not sure whether this is mech or elec....

ive been looking at epas and i have a question or 6,

can i use a 1.2 spi transponder to generate a pulse signal for the epas?
or do i need a control box thing?
also does anyone know whats inside a control box as im sure i can make it myself.
also does the column bolt up to the std nova mount and does it fit the rack?

finally any pics?

cheers

Yes it fits a mk2 dash, there may be slight fuse box clearance issuse, yes you need the box, you need to lower the colum slightly, I'm planing on using a spi thingy, the second lower support bracket needs welded in and it's been covered a good few times mate:)

I do have one on my old compooter, it'll take me a while but I'll get the wire colours for you, as said I'm sure martin had also covered it on mig in his build thread, he helped with the info and pics of lowering the top end for me.

Its all colour coded rob.

Needs revs, vss, ign live, perm live, and a earth or two iirc.

You need it as per the above pic.

There is also a couple of diagnostic wires and one that goes to the dash iirc they won't be needed.

corsa b mate, why?

C is a pig to fit, B is much easier - just need to weld one bracket on, rather than 2/3 on a C column....

The B's have end like the Nova where the steering wheel goes, the C doesn't and they are different body lengths.

You need a AK type transducer otherwise it won't work.

The AK transducer gives the correct pulse for the variable power steering, any other transducer won't work.

^I dont beleive that, ifs wrong it will just be heavier/lighter depending on the speed.

10,000 post.

Do a search, people have tried the others with no joy, seems to be the AK one or the crap nob and box job which IMO is pointless

in my opinion the power steering rack is a better job either with a belt driven pump or a electric pump as it can sense its own road speed and always have the right amount of pressure so it wont feel too light at high speed

Just blow the tyres up to a gazillion psi lol
