What do you lot reckon?

Hi, I'm new here as you can probably tell!

Right, I had a little play around with Photoshop, with my 1.2 Nova, and although it's a little too low at the front (got carried away lol) what do you think my car will look like when it's done?

It is just a pretty standard 1.2 StarFire mk1 Nova. It's been in the family for ages, and had been completely standard for 7 of the 8years.

Now in my hands, I was getting bored with a lack of straight line speed, grip levels, and really crap looking wheels, not to forget crap seats...

So, I saw a 1.3SR Nova for sale near me, and bought it. F reg, alloys, lowering springs etc...So I've started to swap some bits over, at the moment, I've only got down to the two front seats, and the alloys.

I have bought a 1.6 SXi mk2 Astra engine, which is being fully rebuilt, with some ex-rally parts, from a good mate of mine. I'm hoping for about 120-130hp from it, when it goes in, ASAP - more like couple of months after summer...

So...do I get respect for being honest, not putting viper stripes on it, and generally accepting it's a pretty crap car?

Ok, this is the SR I bought for ?125, wheels have gotta be worth that - right? I like the look of it on those wheels, and being that much lower than my 1.2!! Can't wait to get the arches done, guna have a go at them on the front arches on the SR's first, then try my rear's if I feel confident enough doing it...!

got lots of potential there mate, how u pick up the sr so cheap? the engine fu*ked? should go pretty well wid that engine in aswell, is that sr the same colour as ur car coz it could be worth keeping the sr shell incase u ever need to replace any panels

The SR's top end is 'aprently' practically dead. The idea for me though, is to take the carb, inlet manifold, k&n and downpipe off the SR, and put them onto my 1.2 (if anyone can tell me how much or how little difference that will make, I'd really apreciate it!)

The SR's bodywork is really crap! The photo for some reason makes it look a lot better than it actually is, but my car's actually in fairly good nick. But, I'm not going to try make the outside like totally mint, as my future plan is to have a 'scret weapon' - 'wolf in sheeps clothing'!!

Will take things off like hoses, and anything else I can see that'll be of some use...and just scrap the rest!!

Don't need any other parts as of yet, although I am looking for any cheap mods, i.e. decent clear front indicators (the sr ones are pretty tatty) and if anyone has any all red rear lenses, I'd love some of them just for the 'stealth' look...

Not going to fool myself that the car's good, but I pledge, that it will be a handy tool one day! :D

Me and my mate. Fairly mechanically minded. But neither of us had ever lowered a car before. Did mine including front shocks in under 2 hours. This good/bad time. Bear in mind we also did archwork and sprayed break calipers and drums. Only had 2 of us, 2 axle stands, claw hammer, and hydraulic jack too. Good or bad time?

Change the rear clusters
change the interior for an SR one or somethingand it would be even better.

Those wheels do look good, for some reason they look chunkier than most alloys on Novas.

to quote dickenson id say that sr is "cheap as chips". keep the 1.2 standard looking from the outside dude, a lowered sr replica with those rims and a few other toutches will look spot on. new engine sounds good an all!
