View Full Version : Carbon canister removal, what to do with pipes? (Non GM)

For the Volvo. When swapping the 940 engine into my 360 I haven't bothered refitting the carbon canister. Mostly due to a lack of room and no real reason for it.

The question is, what do I do with the pipes? The layout is different in design to a Nova, or any car I have removed them on before (Jap).

Obviously I only have the two coming from the inlet at present, and they are looped. I previously left them open to air and it didn't seem to make much difference. They were looped whn trying to iron out a lumpy idle. This is due to the crappy temp DIY exhaust though.

Any ideas?

simply plug the ports on the tb?

I wasn't sure if one is meant to vent to air, but I guess the only one that would ever be left like that is the one from the canister to the tank.

Plugged on the TB is essentialy how I have it at the minute, I just wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Thank you sir.

i can't see how blanking them will cause a problem

That is the same as a nova? Just block the two bits of the tb or loop them as they are, and leave the one from the tank open.

look.... its all a load of well meaning tree hugging cobblers about only having emissions from the exhaust & all breathers must go thru the engine... thus:

1. it is useless
2. removing it will not alter a damned thing.
3. more fuel will evaporate & go to the environment when you fill up
4. some pillock in an office in belgium thinks he did a good job
