i did this using blocks on my escort rs to release a bit more heat from the bay
Did it work? As most places I've read, and from my own experience, raising the bonnet makes the engine run hotter as it restricts airflow in the engine bay
i did this using blocks on my escort rs to release a bit more heat from the bay
My mate has the same on his rs (s2) raised it a tad so the hot air would slide outta the gap straight over the windscreen, worked really well in town driving, but still wasn't happy with the outcome so opted for a dual fan.
O.p if your wondering how to do it for purely looks, ie its a 1.0 with no overheating issues.
then dont bother, because
1) people will realise that is a 1.0 or whatever and will laugh out loud at you
2) and as mentioned before, depending on the way you lift the bonnet, it can cause the hot air to recirculate around the engine bay therefore cause the engine to run hot
If you have a v6 or bodies etc then feel free to tell me to shut the hell up
bigger fan. lower switching, heatproof pad on the bonnet, even louvres, but bonnet raising just looks like you've had a front ender.... see irish drifting thread....
Raising the bonnet looks crap and does minimal extra cooling!;)

To me it just looks like you have awfull panel fit & zero imgination as you are clearly following the pointless trends that are littering the so-called 'modifying' scene nowadays.
But lets face it, if adding longer bolts to your bonnet hinges is considered a modification, there isnt much hope for the future of modified cars is there?

max power would consider you to be a pioneer of the scene for that...... don't they run articles on how to get your mum to be a guarantor on your loans to get a saxo & ripspeed it???

was 6 years ago guys and to be fair didnt seem any different though women pushing your bonnet at the traffic lights saying your bonnets up isnt good made me mad loads of times , the lad near me has done it on his fiesta 1800 diesel van unsure why it looks pants
/\ you've just reminded me... i saw 2 girls trying to open the bonnet of a mk2 fiesta on the m54 one day, years back, and they didn't understand about the forward opening bonnet...they had nearly got the front wheels off the ground & still it wouldnt open.....
pop to b+q and get some expelair ductiong, £5 for 5 metres iirc, then use that to duct cold air where you need it. faaar better.
