View Full Version : Mums mot
My mums mk1 Clio failed it's mot today on a ball joint and also says the anti roll bar linkage is fractured
Can I just remove the roll bar to get it through it's mot untill I get a replacement?
Providing its not part of the actual suspension setup (Like structal, not like a nova which just bolts up after).
I cant remember what a mk1 clio is like
Don't think it is I'm sure it's just the same as a nova but I'll have a look cheers
yep, you dont need one fo the mot. and tbh if its your mums, she wont be testing the handling anyway ;)

It needs to be fitted as if its meant to have one on that model from factory.
But the chances of a tester knowing if it needs one is very small but if you take it
Back to where they failed it they might reject it

from what are mot tester at work said after he went on a refresher course, if a car fails on a roll bar drop link or bush etc if you remove the whole roll bar setup then its not there to test so cant be failed.
I thought this said, Mum's Hot... dissapointed

^This. If it's not there it can't be tested. Same as if you have no rear seats + belts they can't fail you for having no rear seatbelts etc.
surely if your going to remove the whole roll bar it would be less work to simply replace the 1 linkage thats fractured ?
