View Full Version : My Fathers Antibes

Whilst I was away at the Ring, My dad had been searching for a Nova. He's been using my mk1 Nova for trips to work for the past 2 years and wanted to buy another good example to keep.
He's picked up this Antibes. Originally bought new in 1987 by a 70 year old lady, she traded in her 1979 for fiesta to buy this. She is still alive and is now 93.
The car has just turned 11ish thousand miles. Runs it's original tyres, and the spare wheel has never been used. As you can imagine then, its in great condition. We cannot find a dent anywhere on it.
Their are a few minor issues, a few blemish's where the arch's meet the sill. And from what we can gather, someone used harsh chemical cleaner on the engine bay at some point, leaving it in lots of little rust blemishs. It's all cosmetic though.
Here's some photos!

Original 23 year old tyres!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/keithrobinson/brianantibes/100_0434.jpg
Strange tiny blemish's of rust which are present all over the engine bay.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/keithrobinson/brianantibes/100_0432.jpg
Dad wants to strip the engine bay and have it restored. And eventually maybe in a few years paint the whole car. He wants me to source some original antibes decals and rub strips.
Cheers
Keith :)

That is stunning, those blue carpets and funky seats are amazingly bright. Love how old people love thier cars so much and look after them so well - and great thats its being passed into good hands.

Or is that just the colour the inner arch is meant to be? and its just not all discoloured with grime from the lack of miles.

Im amazed at the condition of that for a 70/80 year old woman owner. That carpet looks brand new  Not keen on the interior trim but if it's standard then obviously it's all good.
I wish my dad had a love for novas and went out of his way to find examples like this lol
Will look forward to any updates on this.

Nice condition. Your Dad got the bug too? LOL
I guess old people dont necessarily look after cars, they are just from a generation that don't abuse things. Well kept anyway. Project thread?

Very nice find! Am loving the carpet!:thumb:
Looks in amazing condition, good find Kieths Dad! 11K miles is just rediculous.
Looks like you're gonna need a bigger garage!
Also regarding the Antibes stickers/ stripes, I'm sure if you remove them carefully enough a good sign-makers will be able to make you up some exact copies?

Looks cool, though you say something about rub strips, there the correct one's as its on E plate, the earlier ones had the clip on's.
Love the fact it has bronze tints too..
And as Mazz asked is this the one that was on ebay for silly money, I'm sure i saw it on there, fair play to your dad though..

Oh....God...I think I just came...that interior, you could eat your dinner off that paintwork :O:O
Hope this won't ever get modified...you'll be getting fiendish grins from scrappage scheme supporters I bet...cars 15 years younger aren't looking as immaculate as that Antibes!
He's picked up this Antibes. Originally bought new in 1987 by a 70 year old lady, she traded in her 1979 for fiesta to buy this. She is still alive and is now 93.
Just noticed that bit there now, must be something about old women trading in mark 1 Fiestas and low mileage Nova's, my Flair is the same!lol
Must get the 2 together at some point for a few snaps!

Dad got it on eBay but actually paid £1270 irrc. Cost a few hundred to get it home. The original tyres needed changed, wipes blades etc so he's spent a few £ on it.
Paintwork is mostly great, but there is plans to get it to concourse spec in a few years.
