View Full Version : 1.3 pistons on ebay.
Has anyone got any information about these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mahle-Pistons-Vauxhall-Nova-1-3L-/230507002955?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM# ht_640wt_930

Cheap, if theyre genuine mahle.
Probs cingwah copies.
Seller dont know either....
are you after 1300 pistons? just i may be able to get some thats all.
Philip, I'm OK for pistons, just curious what these are for as they are not press fit jobbies.
Only mahle pistons for a 1300 I know of are the ones Courtenay used on the turbo conversion back in the early '90's, they were low comp.
mahle made direct replacements.... but the original equipment were KS.. these ones worry me because
1. they shouldn't have circlips
2. there are no valve cutouts
tbh they dont look like vaux ones at all they look like A series pistons....

standard 1300 pistons dont have valve cut outs? the 1200st does though
std 1300 pistons do have cutouts for the valves. a prime reason why the CR is low.

this is from the big boring piston book pdf i have. all ohc small block 8v gm engines have cutouts. the cutouts need to be about 5-6mm down into the pistons.
The mystery continues then......
ive seen a set of Mahle pistons like this...my mate has a set. afaik, Imrscher sold them as hi comps, possibly sport pistons, but dont hold me to that.
basicaly Irmscher hi compression pistons, made by mahle
But they would have to be used with non standard rods with bushes in though. could be some kind of steel rods?

so whats the point of high comp with no valve cutouts so you can't run a high lift cam or even much of a std one... or it would self destruct.
