as its getting quite hard here in jersey to get the xe engine , and there is plenty of ecotec engines around , picking up a second one to rebuild so i always have a spare engine
plus looking for round 200bhp wich is achievable from the ecotec , has wasted spark as std , better torque range
so instead of me going to the uk , picking up a c20xe brining it back to jersey looking at £500 on boat alone for a van
if i was wanting more than 200bhp i would have went down the c20xe route
modified the chasis leg today
used blow torch plenty of heat and a lump hammer
tock my time on this , is this enough clearence ?

Looking good there
how desperate are you to get the engine in?
if your not to desperate and prefer the xe i have a good one here if your interested, and have mates that visit jersey to do hill climbs ect... so no postage if it helps, been rebuilt few years back not by me but everythings new, been rebored ect... its out of my old gsi was good runner before took it out. and only done about 3000 miles with it.
whats your plans on engine spec at the mo going with what you have got?

Good good coming on then.
I have sent you another private message with pic's and price on engine ect... let me know what you think sure we could sort something out.
cleaning up and preping is the worst bit and takes ages worth it tho.
when you hoping it to be ready for?
mike

Was wondering on that would it not make it a weak point and be vulnerable being a rally car an all? surly be beter to box it out when doing the welding? im no pro just would be peace of mind for me;)
you got a cage for it mate?
i want your maestro....
leg looks spot on. i think its the angle of the pics that make it look odd.

not touched the turret , and i didn`t batter it with mallet , i created heat spots and worked it in tock about 4 hours to do
battering it with hammer would cause strain somewhere else
didn`t want to cut and box out as this would involve cutting out a very important part of chasis and i`am only MIG welding

Ahh i see fairenough thought you ment you were wolloping it with a lump hammer lol
what would be wrong with boxing it as i cant see a problem with mig welding i have turreted the rear of my nova using mig and its not gonna be going anywhere.
not arguing just wonder as i dont want to do it the wrong way :thumb:
my rear L/H turret i was intending to do my front leg using this principle unless it is better to do it like you have? this is only a scrap shell and this is my first atempt at trying to weld somthing serious. hence all the questions for when i do it for real.
i can remove these if you like so you can have your thread backlol
