My 1988 nova sr :)

hi my fellow pngers, i thought i would start a project thread for my SR Nova i am 18 and this is my first car. i have had it for afew months now and wanted to see what condition it was internally. its got 112,000 miles on the clock.

i am not sure weather to get it bored out and tuned or just get another engine. would like to see what you guys think when i upload some pics soon. i have already spent abit of brass on it so far.

what its had done:

- full gasket replacement
- full sportex exhaust (apart from manifold)
- back seats removed
- head skimmed

whats being done in the near future:

- replacing the whole front panel and re-welding a new one in.
- new side panels in.
- full glacier white re-spray (inside and out)
- bucket seats
- possible engine replacement or bore
- webbers
- replace astra alloys for original sr alloys
- full re-vinyl set
- pollybushed all round.

these are the panels and bonnet that i won on ebay. got the bonnet for £11.25, drivers side wing for £11.50, the passengers side for £10.50 and a set of headlights/indicators or £5.50. jobs a gudden.

yeah its goin well so far. just waiting for a complete front panel to be welded in, i might do it myself. then the rear arches need doing, despite the cost.

i had a slight collision with a mitsubishi warrior and i crumpled the whole front drivers side.

yeah am trying to find the sr grill but having no luck at the moment. i am going ot get the vinghl when the cars been re-sprayed. also looking for some sr alloys as well.

nice plans matey!! i used u-pol medium grey to redo the bottom off mine for the time being but its a pretty good match!! and i may be able to get you some sr three spokes depending if my pall still has his corsa!!

yeah if you can get those alloys that would be brill mate. they will look wickid. i aim for mine to be pretty close to what yours looks like lol

lol nice mate i want mine restored this/next year as its not mint and i just wont be happy untill it is!! and yea as i say my mate had a 1.2 corsa with them on he got it for his missis and they parted ive not heard from him for a few weeks and i can get hold off him as his missis took the phone she bought him lol but i need to go over his in next few days any way matey!!

yea definately worth it buddy!!! yea i rarely use mine really only in summer and dry weather thats all i want mine for is shows!! and ill get a base modle nova to rag the f*ck out off and do hillclimbs or something off the sort!! but its definately worth it dude!!

no go on the sr wheels mate he's sold the car with them on!! ill keep my eye's open for some mate i wouldnt mint but back in the day i weighed two sets off these in now every one wants them lol

looking good mate got the same car myself if your thinking of stripping rear seats out and buckets etc you should just slam a redtop in it thats what im doin to mine..also i think it would look better clear front indercators. white SR grill and front bumper white my choice though..and rear bumper white with the bottom splitter black with black wheels look good

^^ meh standard is allways beter!! grey grille not splitter on back bumper and no red top get some 40's on the 1.3!!!

yeah well i hav alreday stripped the rear seats out and am planning to put bucket seats and straps in it. i had clear indicators but smashed em in an accident. cant find an sr grill which i'm after and think am going to stick with the grey bumpers. also going to get the alloys sprayed black. goin to get a full vinghl set after the re-spray

Reviving my build thread, probably already seen these pictures but wanting to carry the thread on.

An o-ring in the fuel pump had perished thus wasn't creating a seal for the diaphragm unit. A new ring later and she fires up perfectly.

Near MOT time so just sorting little jobs out. Throttle cable needs replacing, driver's indicator lens, check brake are fine, all bushes etc. P/S window washer jet just broke, urgh so need one of those.
