carried on from me and a friend last night, in older cars whats the best way to skrimp around when you have been on the light for 20 miles lol.
we have two ideas
1: to wack it in neutral and coast it
2: to put it in 5th and lift off the accelerator and let the wheels turn the engine over
just wondering what would be better ?

depends
if injection leave the clutch out, so the engine turns over with the wheels
carb's your just ****ed lol
id rather be in the correct gear and in control lol

Same as, is it better to be at 4krpm, tickling the throttle, or in 5th, with throttle half pressed?
get your mates to chip in on fuel..
just buy fuel or get off the road
Fill up.
Make sure your tyres have the right pressure.
Don't carry excess weight with you for no reason(take all the crap out the car)

wtf, sail on the road. a car yacht lol
well i am going to drive and i can afford petrol, im guessing with a carb engine its all to do with the throttle as that opens the valve up and sucks in more fuel, or does it suck in loads when ur at 3k with no throttle applied?

carbs just dump in fuel and let it be.
injection puts in the right amount for how hard the engine is going.
and for saving more fuel, dont rev its nuts off past 3k revs
let the engine brake and try not to stop as much at junctions if that makes sense.
decel fuel shut off is your friend on post (allish) 1995 injection :)
best to accelerate briskly to your cruise speed rather than mince up there in a higher gear as that uses more fuel (take note taxi drivers you utter cretins)
Ensuring the CTS is clean and if possible renew it on any car over 5yrs old
That should sort most of the fuel economy out.
how about row?
inciting an argument is not nice.
stop doing burnout's and revving the engine at youre local mac donalds carpark.

Take the heater fan out the byulkhead & mount it in the tailgate.
Likewise one of those 'turbozet' fans for your inlet from the bay of all fraud's will add bhp & economy. Must not forget ecotek valves & those fuel pipe magnets that increase economy. Lastly wind up your windows, tape over all the panel gaps on your front end, take a dump before your journey & wax your bodywork.
my mate bought 4 different fuel saving devices of ebay, and every 20 miles, or so, he had to stop & drain the tank.......
Have a massive poo before each trip
