well there was a thread in here about 3 or so years ago when i got it but it hasnt changed so

picked this up about 3 years ago, had been sat with no windows for a while lol

finally got round to draging down to the unit other day to make a start ,

ripped all interior out and cleaned up all the glass and rehomed the mouse from the boot lol

it need loads of welding and loads of parts but meh , why not should keep me out of trouble for a bit :thumb:

need to get it to run so i can move it about , then im goin to get all bumpers skirts and arches off etc to see extent of rot

lol @ the mouse and i had one of these it was a karmann with chrome round the windows and bumpers but it was well rotten so i sold the parts and scrapped the shell.

dude, get the fusebox out, there is foam stuff under it that traps water and rots like fook, and wcheck yer filler neck inside ;)
whats in it? 9a, pb or the stock lump?

That looks really nice dude..love the Momo Arrows - but as you said, i bet those arches hold the water :( Like XR2's etc..

when i took the foam off behind the fuse box on mine i could check the tyre tread and possibly of got my head through it.

lol yeah early dials , and yeah ive nearly got all the foam off , doesn't look as bad as i thought ,

been trying to get it to start tonight but not had much luck , got it to spark now but just wont kick , just backfires lol

well my plugs are getting wet so it must be doin something , if its enough i dont know , goin to change plugs tomorrow and see how i get on then

but the fusebox is shockin , so im not sure if thats got much of an effect , on engine .

did a compression test and got 130-170-170-170 , so its down on 1 but is that enough for it not to fire ?

has it got good fuel in it? lol Fuel filter might be worth a shot too.

does it not fire at all?

wow what a car i did a mk1 gti when i was younger (much younger lol) i have a real soft spot for these golfs looks really clean i will keep a eye on this to see how things are going

just make sure the rota arm is not the reallly old syle one where it has the cut out on it they go week and cut the dizzy out worth a check
