View Full Version : What a Horrible night
Well i was rudely awoken last night at about 3 by the firebrigade kindly putting my nova out :(
someone has either torched it or its caught fire by itself.
Will get some pics up later im Pissed right off. Dont want to claim as my insurance is out next week and i would rather the years no claims.

thatss bad that mate, feel for you. insured?
yes its all insured but tbh all the insurance company is going to give me is nowhere near what the car was worth.
It will only bump the premium up for me and all you guys with novas and i could really do with a years no claims

pardon the french, but there is some ****ing scumbags out there presuming novas dont just internally combust on there own as ive never herd of em bursting into flames in the nite, hope someone seen something or someone that they can identify.

That's awful news mate, can the fire brigade not tell you how it started? are the police going to investigate?
The plough and the front wheels hopefully the coilovers. Other than that it's a warped bare metal shell

Sorry to here the bad news mate, the same happened to me about 5 years ago, someone poured petrol on mine. I just tossed it in the bin but wished I'd have saved what I could now.

5hitter!
The plough and the front wheels hopefully the coilovers. Other than that it's a warped bare metal shell
Not going to bother with insurance as I'm with yes and it's classed as fire damage and I will lose my no claims.
The fire brigade have said it must have been an electrical fire as they always do if there is no obv evidence. The police haven't been informed by me and don't think they will
random q but what engine was it?
Aww dude that fukking sucks!!!
Novas dont usually self combust so id say some knobber has decided it would be funny to turn it into a bbq, i hope you manage to salvage some bits to sell on to fund another one though
Such a shame, at least some parts are salvageable
you need browneys shell....

oh no thats awful dude, sorry to hear about that, that poor little car was still running sweet despite you kicking its head in all day at pv lol
hope someone saw something so you can go kick their heads in!
The plough and the front wheels hopefully the coilovers. Other than that it's a warped bare metal shell
So the back end was burnt out? If it was going to randomly catch fire I would have said it would be the front that went up (my sister's friend's Golf randomly set fire to itself the other day!)
Sh!tter though :(
Sorry to hear that Joe
Hope you get another sorted soon
 thats proper crap mate.

So the back end was burnt out? If it was going to randomly catch fire I would have said it would be the front that went up (my sister's friend's Golf randomly set fire to itself the other day!)
;) You would have thought so wouldnt you, with all the wires bundled up behind the dash, stereo, battery etc
Thats a real shame, sorry to hear that! :(:(:(

sorry to hear that mate i hope you fined the little s++t's and get them back if. as said it normally the front end that go up first
Absolutely gutted for you    I loved that car. I hope that you can find a suitable replacement soon and get it sorted cheaply.
That sucks dude :(
Was it deffo started at the back, wasnt some dodgy wiring from the baby valver being fitted? My corsa nearly went up in flames a couple of weeks ago too :(
Get some pics up dude
Cars can self combust and I know of a Nova that has, a lad where I knock about had a Nova Spin parked up in gear and switched off, it then stared firing its self up and lurching forward with loads of smoke coming from under the dash.
Still, gutting that mate :(
gutted for you mate, saw your car at combe in the spring, lowest ive seen, seem like a nice chap, hope you get it sorted:(
Any pics of what remains of the old pea then?
i was going to ask the picture question:(

id hunt down the little **** down and torch them!
thats awful mate, i cant imagine how you must feel :(
are the police going to investigate or just let it go as usual?
Thats a right s*****r that joe hope you get another sorted soon mate.
shame to hear but if someone torched it theres more chance off the police finding a quite layby to sleep in than finding the arsonist

Sorry to hear that Joe.
Chin up,build another.
[edit] Oh & good move on not bothering to claim, it will only cripple your next premium, just do not even mention it to your broker as they will still hold it against you despite not making a claim (been there)..
nooooooooooooo! Gutted for you mate! Car looked ace at Billing too :(
Not many constant lives at the back end to short out but not unknown. Generally a fuse will go before a fire though.
My 1.4 did manage to spot weld the fuel tank to the rear seat shelf before the fuse blew though so not impossible!
Keep the faith :)
**** mate thats proper woundin ,was a reet little beast aswell

If it was some other car then yeah perhaps dodgy electrics or similar would be a likely culprit. But being a Nova I would really assume that someone did it deliberatly, ask around with your neighbours if they saw anything.

how much for the plow ?
http://www.losgazquez.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/nicks-vulture.JPG
Right the fire started behind the dash ive been informed by my parents who where 1st on scene,
Wouldnt have been the C16xe wiring as i used all oem plugs to connect it to the car loom. my guess is the cigrette lighter had something to do with it although it was fused my guess is the fuse didnt go. thats all i can think of as ive been told none of the windows had been put through and i locked the car.
Pics are off my phone and are being uploaded into FB as we speak.
Already on the hunt for a B reg or older :) Wont lose the nova in my blood after 1 total :( really pissed off thou and its took me a year to get the brown check interior and now its gone :'(

i have nowhere to keep panals as ive got a garage full of nova bits atm which need shifting as my parents want the garage back.
