so specky tigra is a crap 1/4 mile car hmmmmmm

nova_saloon
12-08-10, 01:12 AM
if that was road legal (i dread to think) when parking up against the curb it would have to park at a stupid angle to have the wheels both close to the curb, then someone would drive along and rib off the back one for sticking out so much. why does it need to be so wide. did he see some driveshafts to long and go. ahhhh **** it, surpose it wont look that bad

Stuart
12-08-10, 08:45 AM
tbh, while it looks crap etc and you can pick epic fault with it, atleast the builder actually did it and made a nova RWD rather than the usual bullsheets that goes on the forums about someone doing one etc.

I think what Mowgli is saying is that if you spent the same time/effort/money on a different car you'd get just as good or even better results.

mowgli
12-08-10, 12:39 PM
what i meant was that the bloke had just wasted a lot of time fitting the engine in the back & added about 100kg to the car because aparently he couldn't go fast with an xe fwd, and as has been proven time & time again, a big block fwd nova does appear to go very fast......

i'm wondering if he removed a charger or blew up a let & slapped that lump in... or failed to fit a mk4 astra turbo lump... it just seems to be well executed but badly thought out. if it was built for the strip, then the front grille & mirrors could have been smoothed, the rear is too high, the wheels sticking out will slow it down compared to decent wings, a rear spoiler that creates downforce & wheelie bars could have been added..... and lightened by a huge amount

I saw this nova at USC at the weekend and all that went through my mind was  "what the f**k" i thought my nova looked bad, then saw what times it was running and it just gets worse, the odd high 14's but mostly 15's for a RWD xe'd nova thats just bad, think i will stick to FWD:thumb:

it would be a great car if he took the time to sit the car right and shorten the rear axle or at least fit wide arches, does look very silly as is tbh

ste porter
14-08-10, 05:24 PM
just had a quick glance and at first thought it apears to me that he has spent some money and time doing that note the rear is a proper space framed tubular setup that houses the rear subframe set up
to create something like that succesfully takes time though tools resorces and money .

the ideas there but its poorly finished if this was up for 1500 - 2k then i would be tempted myself purely because with a little time and thought put into the areas that he obviously got bored of and skimped on i think you could do something special with that with most the hard work already done

on the other hand though it could just be a can of worms and quickly turn into a nightmare and end up beeing sold of as another unfinished project

so in conclusion imho its over priced poorly finished but started with great intentions but then seems to have lost interest and rushed to get it done shame realy as it could have been a hell of a car if only the same thought had gone into the rest of the car that was executed into building the tubular spaceframe

one other thing that springs to mind is that screams uk grassing class 7 grass car reshelled into a road legal shell just a thought

mowgli
14-08-10, 05:28 PM
i think he mounted the shell too high on the astra subframe, and should have used a corsa one.
and also if it had a set of wide rear arches on it, it would have looked way better & been sold by now

i know the guys who own this nova and was built purely for the fun and because they wanted to try something different, there well aware its not the normal thing or really finished, arches etc were gonna be added but they want a car each now so its for sale, it pulled 14,3 at pod and they have had nothing but a fun building it and driving it and really dont care what people think, so love it or hate it, oh and the ebay prices are purely to see interest they want £2000 for it and may px for nova corsa etc
