Normally referred to the 16v brakes, these are a brand of caliper found on the sportier more powerful Vauxhall's like the Cav/Astra SRi's GSi's, Calibra etc.
They are a big improvement over the Nova calipers. With a 256mm x 24mm ventilated disc (you can also get them in 256mm x 20mm found on the sporty 8valves).
aww i see didnt kno the were called ATE  feel like a tit now
ive always called them redtop brakes etc
thanks :)
also found on 4 stud vectras. :)
hactually, you can get std 236*10mm ATE calipers too. I had some on my old 1.2 which had Delcos on to begin with.
ATE is just a caliper manufacturer as you can get ATE's on fords etc
**** yer, the old mk2 cavs had 236 ate's, which are supposed to be on the sport, according to the original advert...
im sure the v6 calipers are ate too....
/\ yeah the V6/turbo 288s are ATE's too
kool thought ATE was a after market part thats why i asked
would my 288's be ATE then ? are they stamped etc?

Here's a question:
Did the cars which had ATE calipers fitted from factory, have ATE discs fitted from new? And are GM OE discs actually ATE branded?
Iirc Valeo Or Delco Disks And Pads Are Gm Oe.
