This is what i got for mine :confused: i bought the car in April 2009 but i believe it has been on a SORN since 2004.

Does this mean its not currently declared SORN??

'Vehicle Status : Unlicensed' means its not taxed, not that its scrapped..

yes iv just been to get logbook. Previous owner acquired vehicle on 21/07/08 which is already after its date of liability. I acquired it on 19/04/09 so at the time assumed it was on a SORN. Should have checked at the time but hindsight is a wonderful thing. The online SORN declaration said that the continuous registration folks will be chasing me up :(

if you buy a car that is sorned and intend to keep it sorned you have to resorn it when you get the logbook iirc:thumb:

When i bought my old Mk1 many moons ago as a stolen recovered, i got no logbook, never applied for one, and never declared it SORN, hence when i had to choose between my 2 Nova's, i went for the legal one :D probabley get a hefty fine Rich :(

you actually have to resorn it whether its sorn or not, mine was also unsorned when I bought it and I never knew this and it never got chased up when I put it on sorn, might get lucky.

You always get a sorn reminder every year if your address on the log book is correct UNLESS the vehicle has been off the road before 1999

my gte's tax ran out in 99 that was before sorn came in, I only sorned it 2 months ago and no fine as yet.

But sorn only lasts 12 months then has to be renewed.

I've had loads of cars off the road which havnt been sorned and have never got a fine or a letter. My nova was off the road without sorned for 2 years when i went to tax it and all was fine aswell.

The first post, it means its not been sorned, basically the previous owner have declared they no longer own the vehicle even though they're the registered owners, so its either scrapped or in someones garage with a green slip

if your car is registered to your home address you will get a tax reminder every time your tax runs out, this is also the same form you use to sorn and resorn your car.

as far as i know if you try and get an online insurance quote and you type the reg to find the car details well if its scrapped the details arent found.

last year I had 3 reminders sent to me. 1 for each car when the tax or sorn was due to expire, I can't remember the form number,

Fook knows then lol I always get a reminder, when I sorn the gsi ( as I've done every year since 2003) I get a letter of confirmation, got one for the gte aswell. I'll dig one out and post it up and also see if I can find a reminder aswell.
