Right... Put a 1.6 8v in my mates car... and it struggles to get to 100mph on a private road foot flat to the floor, and just dont feel as nippy as it should, and other people who have drove the car also said that its not right or how it was in my mates old car....

Can anyone shed any light on the matter.

If the ignition timing is set to the centre, it hunts on idle and revs it self to 1.5k then drops back down and dose that again.

Cheers in advance, and any help would be great, as my mate is close to getting rid of it now :( and i dont want him to!

What fuel pump? remove the feed from the rail & prime the pump with 12v, aim it away from anything & see if fuel fires a good distance or not. Sounds pikey, but see.

Check the ignition timing, also inlet flexy hose as already mentioned. Also fuel mixture has to be right, if the 1.6 8v runs lean they are flat.
