Trying to apply for a bank loan online. After the usual name address home phone number etc it says business phone number , I assume this would be the place I work in's number? Would I be correct , I've never had a loan before and don't want to give in the wrong details?

Tried that but comes back with you must mark boxes with * in red. May have to just go down to the bank :-(

Or just put your home number in again?

Usually there is a small * next to the must fill out bits, iirc any form I fill out doesn't need the works phone number but if it is needed it'll tell you when you submit the application.

It just seems stupidly worded , if it is my works number they want, employers phone no. Would have been more appropriate .

Even more so if it's going to be spent on anything to do with cars

Put in YOUR number at work. It'll either be so they can contact you at work regarding your loan for any reason. No point ringing you on your home number if you're at work every day when they try to contact you (not everyone is allowed/has access to their mobile phone at work).

Its possible they want it to confirm with your boss you work where you say you do, but highly unlikely. Wage slips should be suitable evidence. And even if that was the case, if you put down your number then the call will be routed through you.
