theres an old total vauxhall feature saying they do a full r1 carb setup all in ,fitted and rolling road setup for 750 ??

Yes they are fine, I wouldnt pay 750 for that though.

Few people use there inlet manifolds on here. Think there is also a user who makes the same sort of inlets for bike carbs.

Also fairly sure the waiting list for manifolds is long...or it was....

Well, Manifold on ebay or here second hand is Around £200 carbs can be anything from £50-£200 fuel reg and pump....£60?


Dont quote me on any of these prices. And then you have to set it up yourself, which wouldnt be a problem for some people. I dont know about you though.

Well unless the carbs have been used on the engine your using the jets will need drilling/changing. Setting them up fuel mixture wise is the easy bit!

They are good at what they do, which is build race cars, but more grassroots stuff, grass trackers, rally cars etc.

My old Kadett with XE in ran there R1 setup and was 179bhp...

They are very good at tuning carbs...

i only really have basic mechanical knowledge :tard:

i dont want to strip everything down and get lost then end up having to pay someone to finish it off and costing me more time and money:cry:

its a 1.6 8v with full ashley exhaust and hopefully a better cam by then (dont know witch yet) ideas welcome ? thanks

Let's face it if you don't set them up correctly you could waste enough fuel over enough miles to make it very worth while getting it done professionally

do the conversion yourself by any means but get someone who knows what their doing to set them up as it could cause A LOT of damage to your engine, as for a cam a few people rate the kent ast-2 item

If you have never done it and aint confident id get somone else to do it.
Not sure what power you going to get Depends alot on the cam you choose. You can buy kits that people are selling with manifolds carbs etc on ebay when people choose to upgrade engines...

do it once,do it right.Theyre expensive for a reason,same reason as the waiting list.They are brilliant at what they do and are very experienced at doing so.

thanks for the advice guys il give them a call when ive got the rest of the cash together lol shouldnt be too long does anyone know of the best cam to run with r1 carbs ? will be mainly for fast road use but hopefully track :thumb:

bogg brothers are very good would recomend to anyone, they set my 48s up and were fantastic

is £750 is drive in drive out i dont think thats bad tbf

inlet £200
carbs upto £200 (need totaly striping to re jet not a quick job)
fpr £45
pump £50
and the thing everyone has forgot sorting the ignition side of things
h&h ignition kit is £250
then you would have cost of set up i dont see the problem with the price tbf

thats with an xe in mind and iirc the article was done on saloonys loon hence the price

No I didnt forget the Ignition set up....but its not on an xe.....its a 1.6

well not taking that into account £250ish for fitting and jetting and a rr set up isnt bad dont forget labour rate in garages is at least £40-£50 / hour now a days i still feel it aint bad and the ignition will still need changing from injection

For the person in question yes, My origional post I stated I wouldnt pay that. Due to the fact id buy the parts myself + fit and set up.:thumb:

For a drive in drive out things its not a bad price no.....

When it comes to carbs, boggys are legends, i seriously doubt you will find better in this area or in fact for a long way!

Pm Tom reid on here, he may be able to help you with setting your car up on bike carbs,
he certainly knows his stuff when it comes to r1 carbs ;)
