corsa problems

Basically the car is struggling to start then when it does all we get is a black cloud out of the exhaust then it cuts out? Any ideas what this could be before I put it into the local garage for them to look at it?

air flow meter? had a similar problem with my corsa 1ltr 12v

Possibly the EGR depends on what engine and model corsa though.

iirc he said its a 1.0ltr 12v
