View Full Version : Xe oil leak issue?

I've fully rebuilt an xe and tried starting it up today. To cut a long story short it runs great but there is oil p*ssing out of the seal that's on the crankshaft (the one that sits in the oil pump).

This was replaced on the rebuild, but upon removing it, the seal looks worse for wear.

Are these a standard size and is there a special way to refit them? As there is a spacer for the pully, not sure wether to fit this first or not.

Do I use any sealant?

No sealant.
Fit seal, oil slightly and fit spacer.

Should the spacer fit in easily? As it didn't with the one I fitted, which amde me think there was a problem size wise

yeah should just slide in, pushing against the seal. Sounds like you have the wrong seal. be careful not to move the sleeve about once you've fitted it, as it can turn the seal inside out.

im sure they are 2 different sizes as there are a few different oil pumps ,
