there's only 3 wires, +ve, neg and third green wire. (thats assuming you have the 1.4 sr mini loom)

yes i do.
but i was told that i have to run a live from the ign switch to the coil.

the 1.0 +ve has a resistive core which means it can only power a 6v coil... follow it back to the switch, and replace it with new cable. the resistive wire is dead easy to find, as it is the only one with a clear outer coating.

Does this resistive cored wire run immediately from the ignition switch and are there any spare wires that can be used rather than running a fresh wire?

Will have this job to do shortly.

Thanks.

some people choose to find a different feed to do with the wipers or rad fan i believe, but simply replacing the resistive one from the ign switch puts the wiring where it should be, so it is not going to rely on the reliability of another component.

it isn't the worst job to do under the dash of a nova, take out the instruments & glove boot on a mk1, and feed it through..

i take it that +ve is the black wire.
