I know this is a nova forum, but some of you are quite knowledgable, sooooooo.......

The wifes best friends 2003 mini cooper has developed a fault with the remote central locking. It will lock with the remote, but not unlock. When pressing unlock, you can hear the motors in all doors whirring, but the buttons don't come up, thus meaning the car has to be opened with the key. It's started since the battery went flat in the remote, i've replaced the battery, and recoded the fob, but now have the above fault.

I'm lead to beleive this is a common fault, but can't find much info about it on the net. Anyone point me in the right direction for a repair? If not i'll have to get in in at bmw (ta rich for your help too!)

Ta, John!

Stu i've seen that, but it doesn't have the other symptoms. Don't wanna spank 80 quid if it doesn't fix it :)

I know its not the same fault, but my friends mini one opens the electric windows once its been locked sometimes. Its a bugger if it rains and you come back to the car to find the windows open!! Perhaps the key fob/transmitter/receiver system is just unreliable.
