lol @ the comment on the program "These young drivers cant seem to cope with poor road surfaces etc" erm because when you learn to drive you are only taught to pass a test, and not actually taught HOW to drive.

and how do you get trained in howto drive in icy conditions at this time of year in the UK? lol

skid pans dont give you that "each wheel has random grip" feeling either.

driving test's should be you get given a banger and told here is a field covered in ice if you can do your menovers and manage driving at 70mph without hitting any hedge's ditch's or animals you pass. simple as should keep a few people off the road. ow and the people that drive uninsured should be in the test on how to break legs and torcher people to get bank card pin numbers to fix your car :)

Mind you I got some quotes for the granny spec 1.4 nova... I'm 29 with 10yrs ncb to put on that car, it does 1K miles a year (well none in reality) and the price was still £300 TPFT!!!!!! (about £5 more for FC lol).

!!!!

The pass plus should be telling you NOT to drive at 70 on ice! lol

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. The driving test system needs overhauling. IMO you should do a basic test similar to what they have now, which allows you to drive up to, say, a 1.2 or 60bhp. The do a more advanced course which teaches you how things work on the road for everyone else.

I'd want the price to BE £200 in the first place even before the drop lol

Not as such, that's still on the cards but taking it off the road to give it it's new engine if the sale doesn't go through.

I could have but thought better of turning down a tidy women owned standard Corsa SRi with 11 months Mot and 6 tax for £370. Not the bargain of the century but a cheap runnaround

I agree to an extent, but the insurance premiums at the moment ensure most of the youngsters are kept away from the fast stuff anyway. Those that slip through the loop either have irresponsible parents (therefore legislation needs to be put in force there instead) or have more money than sense, and thanks to the recession, there's not many of them about at the moment.

And lets face it, a 1.2 will achieve a heady 80mph which will easily kill you to death in a built up area.

Driving tests need motorway driving added. That's a must! Also pass plus was a great idea but I know for a fact ADI's use it as an excuse to sit back with their arms folded and watch the money roll in. Luckily I was taught by my step dad whilst he was an ADI (he's now an examiner) and he took me on a 'proper' pass plus which involved Hammersmith at 5PM, driving down a woodland road in the rain at night, motorway in heavy rain etc. He mentione a lot of ADI's will just say 'drive' and do a suduko for an hour

my old instructor was one of those people, sit back and do/say feck all on a 'pass plus' course, he even told me that if i gave him £70 or whatever it was he would fill out the forms and then let me get out the car their and then, however at the time i was happy with my insurance and confident enough not to crash/d1ck about as i did/still do consider my licence one of the most important things i have ever acheived(sp)
