View Full Version : Alternator Lowering Bracket
hey guys, i need a lowering bracket for my Xe which is running 45's
cant find any companys which sell them.
what do people do?
what do people use?
smaller alternator?
+rep given
martin, don't people just weld 2 of the slotted bars together & put a longer belt on, like on the sport????
Online Autosport/Tuning.co.uk
Used to sell them
Give them a ring.
mowgli i dont have one of those slider bar things, let alone two lol.
SBD sell a smaller alternator and a turnbuckle for the adjustment. but its close to 200 quid IIRC.
and i thought about making a spacer which set the alternator lower down out of some 6mm plate
A thick plate with 4 holes in should do it.
Bolt that to the block, then bolt the standard bracket to the plate.
Do you definently need to lower it? My tb/45s SBD inlet cleared fine with a quick file down on the edge of the alternator.
its not the inlet its the carbs its self that it hits.
i will upload a pic of what i do when i do it.
won't it fit the other side, where the ps pump fits??
that/\ or try a daihatsu 900cc cuore thing alt mate.
where the PS pump fits. what lol.
i never knew there were/are bolt holes there.
and would i just flip over the alternator, for the puley
and yeh my mate said about the small ones, but i would rather atm keep the costs down.
you use the same alt and make a bracket up martin. im sure there has been threads on it.

thats the problem with the 7degre mount they catch, with the horizontal there fine on the xe ive seen people use an a/c mount and mount the alternator on the front instead

Exactly what i did when i ran my Webers.
Set the grinder to the alternator casing & took a slight curve out to get enough clearance.
