ive hacked my mk1 dash to bits trying to fit a digi dash, then put the digis into a mk2 astra gte... so going custom now on a carbon fibre backing

How you fix the digis in the mk1 dash??

astra mk2 gte 16v analog dials.
there very rare, as the where an option, and the 16v was the only one with 250 km/h and 8000 rpm. (gte 8v dials only go to 230 and 7000 rpm)

The oil light etc is upside down lol I was looking at that little display on the tweeks website, think im going spedo, rev, fuel level and water temp. then boost, oil temp and pressure where the cd player should go

Are the vx220 dials a pain to fit?

Still got my original plug and some Nova GSi 6-dials if I ever get fed up of the Digidash though :)

Yes (well easy for me as I have them in the car they are meant to be in lol).

The speedo is electric and fed from the ABS unit.... not that hard to get an ABS sensor to pulse convertor from Dom on mig. The engine temp needs either a MK4 ECU (yes the whole ECU) or one from a VX as the sensor goes into that and then its converted to a PWM signal to the dash. Some guys on the z22se forum are working on a convertor box as they want to run aftermarket management and keep the std dash.
Fuel needs a bit of fricking about with a pot to get the bias right.

Other than that, easy lol

AS stu said, but I used a astra digidash transducer and a pulse converter from Dom on Mig.
Fuel guage works in reverse (ie full shows empty, empty shows full)
I wired a seperate temp guage.
I have been told the genuine stack dials (earlier elises IIRC) are easier to wire in when it comes to the coolant temp.

Yeah the S1 elise has a 'normal' temp gauge, the N/A vx with a real stack has the stupid pwm temp gauge as does the VXT non stack.

I have seen people put switches in so that they can look at oil temp but no idea how they wired that in without screwing up the ecu lol
