These are why i want my air filter/afm out of the bay and why i wanna get mine more tidy and hidden.
Massive fankoo there Benn, where does your crank sensor wiring run? where does your loom pass into the car?
Benn I think you should get a floor pedal box and get rid of the servo, or a corsa conversion lol
Under the inner arch, with everything else..lol Loom comes in where the battery would have been.
But in the winter when the engines out i'm gonna move it over so its more hidden by the inlet, as there was loads of slack in the loom with the battery out the way. Which at the time i didn't know. I wrap it in silicone tubing so it look more tidy.. Well of what you can see of it. If that makes sence.
Any pics you want John, just ask. If i dont have them i'll take them.

Dude, I spent 2 days making my brake lines so they where nice...
Bloody hell, 2 days? That dedication. I spent half an hour, and is shows lol
I never liked the smoothed bay but I must say it is growing on me to such a degree that I'm thinking of it on my gsi.
Its not easy to get right, well.
If you mean just smoothing the seams then that's not hard.
The lines i wanted to be a certain way, it was very very hard getting them to be how i had imagined. Getting them straight was a task too as was the bends even and so that the top two lined up. Can i post more of mine? lol
That what the thread calls for lol
My two are from Billing, Thank you to who took them.

John, hidden in inner wings are.. (now routed better and neater)

Looks seriously cool Benn, top bombing, also loving the colour coded jack
There's a load of work that goes in to the whole bay in my eyes. Its not just smoothing it or hiding everything. Its all the stuff you have to leave being made to look better and such.. I mean i painted the adjuster on my headlights... lol
I'm thinking of having a mega clean bay to put my std xe in, if i can't have the outside nice, i'll make underbonnet neat. I'm thinking of painting the bay glacier white, hiding and extending all the wiring, and losing as many tanks/bottles/hoses as i can.

Ran my wiring inside the wing then into the bay behind headlight
Not quite to Bens extent though! :)

You want to also look at the VW buys for smoooth bays.
A question?
I know that lengthening of wires is need, how is this process done? Is it open the loom, select said wires, cut join with solder and heat shrink add specified lenght, cut solder and wrap in heat shrink re wrap loom and route?
What type of wire is used? Just stuff of similar thickness? Or is it more specific?

IMO thats OK, there is an anti-soldering debate on here.
For wire, raid a Vectras engine bay at a scrapyard to get the same colours/traces & proper automotive stuff.
Cracking idea, never though of using another loom lol
I seem to recall a thread about the soldering issue, IMO if you can actually solder properly without melting wires then I'd do it to prevent failures in continuity, but I know some view soldering as a way to introduce problems.

That mans a genius! saves on drilling holes for the cable ties!
Bazil/John, a good way to cheat.
Find a Nova with a nice tidy neat loom, cut it out where its enters the car (right right)
Take that to your car, plug it in and run it where your waiting it hidden. run your loom to the same place. Then cut and join the the 2nd loom ends.
That way all the colours match up and all the plugs are right.
Soldering is the only way. Its done on car looms from the factory.

Do it dude! It's the way forward!
Want some vw bys too? They some times go past the line in my eyes. As there are a few that now don't run as they've removed the clutch cable.
yeah go for it Benn, losing the clutch cable makes it a trailer queen imo.
Benn, can you post me a pic of how your hose from plastic tube on rear of engine, to header tank goes, and where are your fuel lines? :)
Fuel lines run in the normal place, as you cant really see them.
Older pic, but you can just see where it goes.

If/when i do it again, i'd like to move it over. But the space behind the dash is.. Well there's none there. Its over as far as it can go, its tight to the brake pedal frame work, there's a S in there that connects it to the header.
that black/grey nova with the cream bay..... got hyro powersteering?
and also how in the name of chuff do they hide the header tank and EVERYTHING when the bulkhead is cut out!!!!

Already said but i contacted Colin Smith from on here and got section of Nova loom so we could use all correct colours to lengthen the cable.
Only way to do it really so you can fault find if reqd.
Solder & heat shrink is the only way to go.
Or just rewire it all :) old looms suck balls in most cases
Well I'm pretty sorted for wires then, I've got a few looms I can play with :)

No that's the water tank.
Top fill custom rads, then you have no header tank or pipes going to the bulk head.
A few VW.

See the odd end to the screen? Scuttles been removed, has no wipers either. That's when i start to dislike them. If its not used then its easy to make a empty bay.

Below is one i really like, its no the most hidden and such, but its a R32 lump pushing 300brake plus with a smoothed and hidden bay. Best of both in my eyes.

See why mine isn't good enough? I can.
yours is awesome Benn, needs corsa servo tho imo
but where would the battery etc go lol
floor mounted pedal box :)
I dont get it how you can have the bay that 'empty' and it still run, but hey.
Cheers Edd, i just feel it could be better. Would be worried doing it as i've said braking is one thing you have to be careful with.
Stu, Battery's in the boot already. Floor mount one would be cool as funk, but would have to go hydro clutch for that.
FFS, why do people assume you HAVE to go hydraulic clutch.... You DONT have to.
I would choose hyd clutch and remove the cable for a nice hose instead. Which could also be virtualy hidden?
Some of those are p0rn benn, i won't be going that farr though, just losing the 2 bottles, and some wiring.

No? All the ones i've seen are...

Cable isn't hard to hide tidily tho.

Yes they are, didn't think you would be. But it gives a view of what can be done. Tip, plan where everything will go, lay, run, sit everything before. So you dont have to mess about after.

although they make 'universal' ones that are cheaper and just need bracing accordingly
Ooooo i'd one one is these...

Wouldn't work with a normal seat pos tho.. Have to ask Lee303 if he'll let me sit in his..

Its not about going 'far' IMO. It's mainly head scratching, ingenuity & planning. Once you have removed any brackets, smoothed & painted out the bay, by the time you have the lump in & realised you havent done 'X' its either go back & fix it or do without whatever it was you forgot!! lol
Big time!^ I planned everything this time around and still for got bits... Write a plan out with pics if needed and follow it...
When you have to drill a hole in new paint its a killer.
