Managed to get a brand new Lucas alternator for 35 nicker off eBay and was wondering about polishing it. The finish is quite bumpy so I was gonna sand it first then polish. Any info on what's the best way to attack it. I was going to get a bench grinder and polishing kit for it. Any buffers out there....bennlol

Alright Tommy, its looks way better than before.

I started by Sanding it to get the matt coating off, i went out and got a bench grinder from argos for £16.00 and a polishing kit from Screwfix for £30.00, you can get a better kit from the polishing shop.co.uk, but i was being impatient.

I'm gonna get some scotch blocks and try and get the surface smoother before buffing it again tonight and i've only buffed the sides you can see but i might strip it down and do the whole thing now.
