Have a practically a std 2.0xe but on SBD throttle bodies.

Checking oil after my track day and seem to have "used" about 1/2 litre. (10w40)

During track day, no problems encountered, no smoking (not that i would necessarily have noticed), engine temperatures normal, oil pressure fine. No obvious signs of a leak, no loss of power.

Checked my oil catch tank and that had 1/3 cup of brown watery type substance.

Driven car since track day and no noticeable smoking.

Any ideas? What else to check? Should i upgrade the oil i use - whats everyone else using? Will this help?

cars drink oil. its a given. cars that get worked hard use more oil. as colin chapman said. don't trust an engine that doesn't use oil

Do the breather mod and see if that helps.

1/2 a litre on a track day is not much really....

It will have been burnt off.
My engine dosent use oil, but then I put treacle in so it wont lol

No oil = less mechanical & transmission loss.

Winner lol lol

Cheers for the replies. Breather mod already done.

I won't worry too much then.

Still like to know what oil others are using in their xe track novas?

The more time an engine spends over 7000 rpm or outside 'normal' driving rev range, oil will be consumed...

I have used more than that on a track day (limit is 8450 rpm) so dont worry about it.

I have 10/40 in my xe. Never really used a noticeably amount on a track day. Just used a few mil off the dipstick level

yours has some sort of alien technology 180bhp rings on it though, oil probably doesnt go past them lol
