hi all, i don't really do much posting on here but i thought i would start a project thread even though im a long way through the build now. At the start i had a 1.2 nova fun that i used as a daily driver with the plans to put in a 1.6 8v gte engine in that i had bought in 2008, i never got enough time though to put the engine in or was never able to insure it but as time went on each m.o.t came round and more work seemed to need to be done each time, heres how the car looked from the beginning to just before the project started

The build started when i managed to get enogh time to do the build properly and take my time with it rather than rush it in a week and it not look as good as would have hoped, i bought nick j's old corsa that a few of you may recognise and used this as a daily and the nova went away into hiding to start the build, just a few pics of my new car and the nova

after this i bought two rust free wings, then after this i found out i had rusty sills so i had these replaced along with a few other bits that needed doing after i got it back i was going to do it on the cheap and fill all the sills my self then put my side skirts over them to hide any bits i did a bit rubbish but i decided to get a full respray instead and have some one whos better at body work than me to do it lol i just didnt know what colour. From this i started to strip the car fully

after this i went round asking body shops how much they would do the whole car for either just the outside or inside and out and the prices wernt much different so i decided it would be just as much work to do it a different colour so i decided on suzuki swift cobalt blue, and also decided to get the engine bay stitch welded incase i wanted to put an xe in eventually, so the car had the bay done and soon after went up to the body shop, i bought a new bonnet and tank off auzzie as i had a holy tank lol heres some pics of it at the body shop

iv thought of doing the lights all red but i havn't really had the time to get round to doing it to be honest, i did my nova ones a while back and i really liked them, its just a matter of getting round to doing it and im not sure on which bulbs to put in the indicators to make them flash orange again so its m.o.t passable

update:
after pv i got straight back onto building the nova up and got through alot, i built up the front end so it looks like a car again after 7 months :D i also tidied up alot of the wiring and painted underneath but iv only got pictures of the arches as the other pics were bobbins, i made the engine bay look a bit neater and i fitted the tie bars and wish bones after being powder coated and fitted with the poly race bushes thanks to andy_017, i was able to roll the car out and have a sneaky look at wot the car will look like when its completed

not really done much of an update for a while as iv been to busy really to do much to the nova or corsa but seeing as though the weather perked up a bit last week i was able to wash the corsa and give it a good wax and i was quite happy with how it came out in the end i had also fitted new 165/40/16 tyres to my porsche wheels which let me lower my car down to near its maximum and sits much better now

not had an update for a long time now and finally managed to get back round to it and a new computer so it doesnt take a week to upload pictures, anyways alots changed since i last did an update so ill try and get it up to speed, i got round to buying some gaz coilovers as iv always wanted some and wanted to make the corsa a little bit lower, i bought some 6" 400 pound front springs to stiffen up the front end and so that the spring seats would sit well above the tyre so i didnt have to run spacers heres some pics of when they came, i was very happy indeed when they turned up lol

update : i had a few problems with cv joints and shafts a while back, everytime i bought a cv joint and fitted it to the driveshaft the shaft would spin in the joint as if it wasnt gripping it, i eventually came to realise that i was pressuming that the driveshafts were 22 spline shafts but discovered they were 28 spline shafts so after finally getting the right cv joints i built up the shafts and this is how they looked,

over the winter, i know its a while back but iv been very busy lol i had the car motd and the mot man must have drove onto the ramps to first or reversed off to quickly but he snapped my front bumper in the corner and at the front just above the splitter, i also put the speedlines on incase the mot failed on my stretched tyres. heres some pics of the damage,

cheers guys, i know im unsure on the skirts just because i dont want to have to drill my sills to fit the skirts on and i dont really want to bond the skirts on as getting them off, if i ever need to, will be an absolute nightmare. its not arden blue but it is very similar its jus slightly greener and lighter than arden blue, its suzuki cobalt blue that comes on the swifts and a few others.

love the colour!! looks similar to lazer blue that came on mk1 nova's. Corsa is also lovely (tho im not a fan of the mega streched tyres, 195/40/16 would be ideal in my opinion) Keep up the good work!

thanks for the comments everyone,
it is a very similar colour to lazer blue gary its just got a slight metallic green hint in the sunshine the suzuki colour but it is very close match lol i think im going to go to 195/40/16 tyres also as the ride is extremely firm on those tyres as theres very littl give in the sidewalls,
i keep thinking about going back to the speedlines matt but i wanted the corsa to be a little more 'euro' but not over the top stupid, just so that it looked a little different even though corsa gsi's on speedlines are the dogs danglies,
RJM25R, that is me lol andy seems to no everyone these days, i recognise the area and your car now from your pic, its definatly a small world lol

iv not updated anything for a while but iv been a little busy over the summer, after i had got the nova back on the road i didnt really plan on doing much to the corsa just sorting out a few issues such as the power steering rack and few in dash lights and generally tidying things up but after sourcing a pas rack from will F he also had c20xe lying around with corsa mounts for sale and so i happily snapped these off him as the corsa just needed a heart transplant to finish it off imo. Anyways after a long 400 mile round trip journey this is what i cam back with plus shafts, hubs, mounts and loom all ready to go.

then from this getting on with removing the corsa engine began, i decided to remove the engine by lowering the car the ground rather than through the top as it seemed a bit easier at the time but proved very difficult as a one man job,
bumper off

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr302/nova_pipi/IMG00222-20110726-1657.jpg

everything put tightly in the garage for another day

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr302/nova_pipi/IMG00223-20110726-1918.jpg

another day then came, everything removed off the engine

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr302/nova_pipi/IMG00224-20110726-1918.jpg

car then had been lowered onto the ground to unbolt all the mounts

update:
not muc of an update really but i still need to take some pics of a few other things that have been done recently, but before then i took the opportunity to try the porsche wheels on the nova whilst the corsa is off the road, they sat pretty well to be honest but the back wheels didnt tuck into the arches like i would have hoped and the stretched tyres didnt really suit the nova in my opinion and the back rims slightly scraped over big bumps on the passenger side so i have decided to put the sppedlines back on but any way heres some pics.

thanks guys, i think its the colour and the tyres that make the wheels not look as good as originally hoped, i think if they were plain silver with 195/40 tyres on they would look a whole lot better for the nova

not really done an update for ages so theres alot of catching up to do, since i had the car back on the road iv always wanted a new full stainless system made up for the car so after ringing around a few places i decided on going to a company in irlam that do stainless systems on the side of the actual garage business they have. After a qoute i booked the car in the have a 3" outward rolled tip with a back box and straight through system, and at the same time i got a 4 branch manifold, after i got it fitted the car sounded so much better, it went from basically just noise to having a 16v kinda noise, best way i can describe it, the only thing i wasnt happy with was the size of the tip as they ordered a 3" for me but it came in damaged so they fitted a 3 1/2" which i didnt think would be to bad but it ended up looking way to big so iv recently had it changed down a size to a 2 1/2" outward rolled tip, heres some pics of it with the 3 1/2" tip.

i looked into getting a flocked dash a while ago but could never really find a company that was reasonably close that would do it for me in a short time as i couldnt really go without having a dash in the car as i use it everyday and would annoy the hell out of me, after looking through some project threads i got speaking to alan allpress (known as prey on here) as he had flocked his mk1 dash and had turned out great and he was doing flocking for people on the side, so after chatting to him he agreed to pick up a mk2 dash from colin (novarally) and flock the dash for me then basically swap dashes as i got over to his, heres some pics of the dash in the car and before it was put in

recently i was offered some 15" compomotive mo's for a good price and i as iv always wanted some i had to snap them up, they were a bit beaten at first when i got them with a few scratches and scuffs but all were fairly straight and no major dints in the rim so after cleaning them up then sanding them down i gave them a few good coats of filler primer to take out little marks then resprayed the wheels in sparkling graphite then gave them a final coat of laquer, i also got four new toyo TR1 proxes from my brother who fitted them for me too and had two of the centres machined out to 63.5mm to house new centre caps once i get them through from compomotive, iv ordered blue metal caps but just waiting on them now, i really like how theyve turned out especially for a home done spray job and the brakes only just fit under, its extremely close lol

update

well finally got the corsa started with fresh oil, it was the good stuff too, i was extremely happy and couldn't wait to get the car on the road then 5 minutes later i was talking to my mate when he asked whats that on the floor, then i turned round to find my car had had a small vee vee on the floor, heres some piccies to show you what i mean, it looked like it was coming out from in side the gearbox so took this as the rear main seal had gone so got on with the job and a new seal for £16 so cant be to bad, also changed the sump gasket and added washers to the sump bolts so they would tighten up a bit better in the future.

after finally getting the rear main seal sorted i managed to get the car out for the first time ages and fitted some new eccentric topmounts which i missed pictures on fitting but made the car sit alot lower and the shocks wernt even at the bump stops, they wern't to far off though, after a bit of a run around to see how it drove it was really down on power which turned out to be no spark coming from the coil pack at coils 1 and 3 so after changing the coil pack leads and plugs i still had the same problem and couldn't seem to figure out what the problem, after much messing about changing ecu's and checking wiring this problem turned out to be a dodgy ignition amplifier even though this was originally bought from new :s but now after running on all 4 and all its power was back it ran alot better and was soon time for the mot :D

So it's been a while since this has been updated and alot has happened since really with the project and other things going on with other cars etc.
I'll try and start where I left off, so the nova went into hiding and started to be stripped down while I had the corsa on the road, the plan was to strip the front end down and at the same time rebuild the engine with added bike carbs that I got from someone I knew. They had originally come off a 1.4 8v I believe and the carbs were from a zx9r and came with alternator bracket, fuel pump, manifold etc ready to fit. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170702/282d3ecca9bbab5c3267967ebe512354.jpg

From the whole plan changed and I ended up selling these carbs once I had sold the e16se engine and bought an early c20xe. The e16se engine ended up being rebuilt and transplanted into a mini as the lad who bought it managed to keep in touch and sent some pictures over whereas the carbs ended up going on a 1.6 8v engine in a nova but I didn't manage to get any pictures of this.

From here, everything came to a halt really for a little while, the engine was out and the front end stripped down but with commitments to uni and work and everything else going on in had no time and money to commit to getting the car done just kept saying to myself 'I want it finished for next summer' which kept happening for a few years as I lived away for work and didn't have any time on a weekend so it went a little bit on the back burner.

After this point me and a pal went over to the opel treffen show over in oscherslebben and met up with a few others from the UK. We stayed over at the show for a few days and then went to the nurburg ring on the way home.
All the way through the trip though the corsa wasn't quite running right and only started being funny the day before just didn't realise until we had gone as the car was running as normal just smokey under load sometimes and the engine light came on now and again. After doing a few 100 miles we also realised it was using alot of fuel only getting around 250 miles to a tank which is pants tbh but it made it and when I got home I found out the coolant temperature sensor had died causing the issues. Here's a few pictures from the trip.
The opel omega 500 evolution was absolutely gorgeous too.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/3337df8ed8becfda578492859a211426.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/bb1daf9895fe6d2168222e930bc3fc6e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/3e7974d11ed2b64804cf90ce3f3c33f2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/44a6d3b6e40a3798e3fbe16abbdef9ad.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/c234126960c3e196a5793c3fc193dc9a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/b03303a5033dcaa9e200cbcafcae1f59.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/b0a9829c72730123cd688bcc2c49a1a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/d8ca3698822e7a8b86380b9b442ad60c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/01cd089159d1fb6ff91efccb0ab90080.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/5889f0065e2d292e7fee920848365fc9.jpg

Cheers Benn, they're going onto the nova now as I sold the corsa a few years ago now on a set of speedlines from the nova, I believe the corsa went through a few sets of people and has since been stripped and scrapped 😔

In around August 2013, I wanted to start fresh and however much I loved the corsa, I put it up for sale with an intention of buying something but I wasn't sure what so just waited to see what would come up for sale, it was advertised with the pictures below but actually sold on speedlines to a lad down in Portsmouth so I gave it a full vaccum and wash with a clay bar and wax then drove the car down with a mate on the promise it being sold and it did.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/434010718ee777bd376d46dfaa34195c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/bcf8a54e03a4d0d036324e327e2263b4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/6d3fa47585754d295f545f8282d2944d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/dd55834490baa9826869f4353ed720e2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/30e9e7dde06607be961b0103528c7498.jpg

Still with zero to little progress being made on the nova I bought a bmw 318ti compact on coilovers with style 95 18" wheels. Even though it was so low it still drove quite nice just struggled to go over any remote humps in the road anywhere but looked great so I didn't mind although it may not be to everyone's taste. I added msport bumpers and side skirts to this and made a nexus 7 install as a head unit but after this was done the car was sold on a year later. You can see the install in one of the interior pictures and has made me think about something similar for the nova when it's built up.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/e78eb308a03d1dc421bb1bdeddbc5349.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/408b5e36eb3aad7e83cde9e16114d1f9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/6e8619641da07485b9991d572998ef77.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/a4365dfbc83773c593621d4c9e451f62.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/88f55d5ec2eefeb524c4016ef2176a20.jpg

From here I bought an e91 diesel as I was doing alot of travelling but then ended up being closer to the car and had some new found inspiration to get the car finished and thought whilst I'm here I'll get the underneath stripped and painted the car colour then I thought whilst I'm doing that I may as well get other bits sorted I'm not happy with which eventually turned into, 'I may as well get the full car painted now as everything else is being done' which is kind of how the project has gone now so i ended stripping the car right down and working on getting everything back to the beginning again.
I know my welding isn't the best but it's strong and once it has been ground back it is hardly noticeable and it's all a learning curve as I would rather do it myself and pick up new skills.
Here's some pictures as I started taking more this time than the previous build as I want to keep it all documented and help people out with their builds as I've needed it with mine.
Anyway here's the progress. Loads more still to come.

From here I made two trollies for moving the car about alot easier and will help the painter when it comes to being painted fully too. I've attached some measurements of the ones I made but being a nova will probably differ from car to car.
I then started to make a an intercooler cut out with a sheet of 3mm steel, I managed to get hold of a sheet but I could only get an 8ft x 4ft sheet and it was huge.

I had a good idea of where I wanted to go with the car now so the plan is a full respray underneath, inside and outside whilst applying raptor gaurd underneath and then paint over this.
The car colour has been decided but I'm going to keep it to myself until it's painted.
I'm going to make the engine bay minimal and have headed down the c20let as I got hold of one for a good price through buying a rally spec corsa.
It had perspex windows
Hydraulic handbrake
Full weld in cage
C20let
Eqaul length Shafts
Big block hubs
F16 gearbox
256mm brakes
Lightened shell and wiring
Cobra bucket seats
It was also a genuine corsa gsi on the log book but had lost alot of its parts over the years and was nothing but a corsa really.

The engine was missing a few bits like ecu and loom but I managed to get it for a good price so was worth while.

So I managed to get the car rolling and out of the garage for a few photos and further strip it, I was planning on taking all the underseal off whilst the car was on these trollies but I opted to buy a pre welded jig from eBay which worked out brilliantly and allowed me to get into all the required bits that needed welding and strengthening https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/a0c7f3f371e574c3dd64a714961a183e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/380f8f42cc110390933c443c4a18ad4c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/2c076b75c19b0d1358aae102724d47e4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/88ad57f2de8832d9f523951e8e14934f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/7554ba05ea52953b5b9d2b12d617ff98.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/a84664662060c886a2e587377a39a5f3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/3098e72de6d45b69cbdd9d1727b587f4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/ccce57cec219e92d3d132e6de5a4648a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/0481c61cd928e41eba0fb669fd198a9e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/f856346c08f371735af1a7889ce6178f.jpg

Once on the jig I could underneath the car properly so I fully stripped the underseal off with an angle grinder and a wire wheel which worked wonders but still took longer than I thought it would. As expected it revealed a few crusty bits that required some attention and bits I wasn't happy with.
I started with the chassis legs that were dented and damaged but I cut out the sections I wasn't happy with and welded in sections of 3mm steel and ground the welds back, I didn't want any dirt and such getting in behind the front wheel arch and the chassis leg so made a plate to continue the splash guard into the chassis leg to eliminate this problem.
Ignore the horrible welds they have since been ground back and tidied up as they weren't great and I'm new to welding.
I've always wanted to re route the fuel filler too so thought this would be the perfect opportunity.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/27f508532c8b4a79a7bfe8cb92b96907.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/ed661b2b1f5c25efdccdb6a930dca113.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/b0905d4e913ac6beb6dab030d064b5b8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/f1b62e058639d9c44509b3651ef8d050.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/c09ae0fec912bac7c9a0275dbb00b687.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/a083e57433126c5a7ac573198c9a22c5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/4c1d13963e7c92565fcd99481332608c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/e26dec138fef5007cd7b463e2da06516.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/39a732c058eba630d16182fb9e3f08f2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/1ad0867f4e16c6da39283ea40de64bfe.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/ceb0da90d5fec8a1d0209e676f772efc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/d7a913a0b20404acb0c7edbd7d7e32df.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/261cf6d9aa5c2ece3b81b1b7ffb138ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/165eb54b36e990cb04f6964ebf3f356d.jpg

I decided to then turret the rear end and add a strut brace in between to allow for more suspension travel as I want to run the car low but previously this meant running it very close or on the bump stops which obviously made the car feel horrible.
I started off with buying mk2 escort rear turrets then trimming these down to what I required then measuring into the car and cutting out to suite then weld in both inside and out.
I'm really impressed with how they turned out and from my calculations should be able to run low but at a good height if needed along with the rear bench still bein able to fit. They are roughly 2.5" higher than the standard platforms.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/5575318a1c4e06dba55d214b1b5ed33f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/2020d20f896e26ea0ecb8523f6e620cd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/fba824fe7809f4dd806b6d4c489775f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/dc2778db79c88db0f969cfc6f122516b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/453ef4f9e295d7b67e4e9a38ea98b076.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/66de954433e1f2f8dc5b3de1f8546f67.jpg

You need to set the amps on the welder higher / highest & possibly a bit more gas. I like the effort in this - Because you're at this stage I'd advise tubing the rear arches to compliment the turrets (which would also be best with another couple of inches on top).

Now is the time!

nova_pipi

I was thinking of doing it at the time but I want to retain the rear seats still and if I was to tub the rear then surely I'd have to remove the rear seats as there wouldn't be any brackets and the width of the back would be too narrow to fit any in?

I've not updated for a while but whilst all this work was going on I decided to start the engine strip down and rebuild, I didn't want to go into to much depth with the strip down as it would probably exceed my abilities and cost but I feel I went far enough to change most parts and clean them up to look new again so started off by removing the belts, pulleys and cam cover then moving onto the cams and head to reveal a damaged piston.
As you can see from the pictures it has been hit at some point by valves and left a few indentations but after speaking with a few people and thinking it over the engine must have ran okay after this occurred as there is a carbon build up in the indents so I think over the years this happened and someone rebuilt it and painted the block red and put it back together running.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/bfe71583c9e4c1b92b3f098c6eaf0014.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/099c9ea4e74e9f4592b644b02e358e60.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/0a77977e878a4e5574caaf9a4f2d9d46.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/259ea7c137503d4d73eeed9f92ad49c8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/5252a6fa933673d4f76a7877df7608b9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/b2cd37bae48f83f92651f50f2103ad7d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/ca112968161734c6cfc38fcc3d0bcc2c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/53c32bc7ab69a2c9e7b39d64ae55a006.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/ac32a4b6fe662034945f78952e389dac.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/271ede7b0fbf9a3e307e045a52900d8f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/c07f1a66308d373a054263659ed99231.jpg

During the strip down I took a few pictures of the engine numbers and stamps. From what I could find out over the internet HH7 was the later engine c20let I believe? A bit strange how the stamps on the cams were indicating different years though, does anyone know if these are both let cams or is one from a c20xe etc? A picture of the head bolts to reference the lengths toohttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/26cd7957725027ae216aa22c93be581e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/ed08e615f5b61488adadb29ba7cbefc6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/74d3aae0ae41ac634d0e7d819b184b31.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/d17d7a03fe08eb054033be3bb1e1a857.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/4b2e953af34527ac98dbf67bd81070a1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/03f8462eb7dc65cf730ea5cd6228f616.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/08291e578e76081488a7e2c76ffb5771.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/f4b70faf6ae4ba62b938ea6d204d2e07.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180511/cce2539d8f9583b61a2c8ca9ed90ed25.jpg

With everything off the block I gave everything a clean using a wire wheel and multiple washes with a degreaser which helped loads and really gave me chance to clean everything up rather than flinging grease everywhere.
I replaced the seals in the block at the same time, heres a few pictures of the big end seal and the metal piece being resealed at the same time. I didn't replace this previously on an xe in my Corsa and first time it was started it wee'd oil everywhere so didn't want to take the gearbox off once it's in.
I painted the core plugs in the car colour which isn't Arden blue, it's very different to Arden. Then I painted the whole block with hammerite and it came up brilliantly even with a brush leaving no brush marks and I did one side at a time and left plenty of drying time between.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/31571ea161b599c0d317fd235afc909e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/22ddd51c7cab137d28fc23208089c62d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/098c675b9e59da63ba89dd66590699e2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/5117e1049e72085764a09668acaa3aa0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/6ec339544547da58e85bf971cb3d3afb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/acfc6c9df5ef153c4fa007dcbea228a3.jpg

I left the pistons and crank in place as the all felt smooth and working correctly, I meant to previously put the pistons have markings of 86.44mm so I'm presuming this may have had a rebore at some point? Are standard c20lets 86.00mm?
When taking the sump off one bolt had rounded so I had the a nut on to get this out and sand lightly everything back again from any splatter that went on the smooth block part, the pistons and crank were covered so nothing went inside the block too.
I upgraded the oil pump and pick up pipe to a z20let pump and pipe to suit along with a new baffle plate and rubber gasket, Both the oil pump and sump were painted silver and the oil pump had new gaskets too. All sump bolts were then replaced with stainless steel bolts and washers and the z20let pump had to have two larger bolts but I can't remember the size of them of the top of my head but it's all on the internet the exact size for anyone that needs it, rather than drilling larger holes in the sump I decided to add nylon bolts to longer standard width bolts.
To try and seal the sump fully i added a thin line of Vauxhall gasket sealant too.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/65d73434fa4253bdbdb94cbb21df062e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/aa34c1addb5e5b25ad876644b773565c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/c40fe8d16a77e737aac3582fdcf14221.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/f2c97a16cbf02ec957258b8168481dbd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/2c51a0d93a018d17f51b9ef8f7ec3bb0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/7d916a489bd34daff11155a357de9588.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/0ee115e60b9390be41226d0dfb971dc4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/52d96301c06e460adadb3dcbf923a00b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/6df7144a56bc7e357bbfa10dfa33150d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/2fd9b717ed0896e921fa6d1a6577940e.jpg

Flipped the engine the right way round on the stand and started working upwards, I got the head cleaned up and painted hammerite silver along with cleaning the base of the valves and tops of the pistons of any carbon build up and gave them a light polish. I fitted a new head gasket and head bolts and refitted the head along with cleaning out the tappets and reoiling them at the same time. I then remitted the cams the same as they came out with new seals and correct torque readings from the Haynes manual.
When refitting stretch bolts in the head are the bolts meant to make a cracking noise as the tighten? Any info would be greatly appreciated.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/8dee22e4476bce2fcc8cd88202625174.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/3e8bf14417cb8065aad141ccea8693e9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/244f413c2f2518b0fb81217d79fa9bde.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/8d4bebf7ca4fc819eb422b28ff582b07.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/b1e869b7e4ed71c517e6ad444880e3f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/19f468ea6ccfbbdec089d1e367d7898a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/bde30df366fb2dcca12897b9319f67ba.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/7c928881f732a76f9584b0d658ef26d8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/d5f2f704b39c4b3f49671074b9640c4b.jpg

For the main piece of the engine I had the L-piece painted car colour with black writing and the main cam cover painted a very similar colour to rays wheels bronze colour, the different pictures show how it comes up in different lights bit in person is a dark bronze colour with a Matt finish. This colours going to link with a few other bits on the car too when finally finished.
I think it's come up brilliantly and the colours go really well together. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/22f922950c9725775c170fa5dd09628c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/b3b87b0a671fd083617548eb468aeeac.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/ce4ceadff96b33502c94ed498102c01a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/5a0be443e002a74b29e43ee6c5528cab.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/003b833945ae977c717adf962c6a7a0e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/270a0f21a7d1c654ce00bfb39bf6f2d7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/1a8750b5fef9cf87c806bf3febf07f8b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/e5842429a5927b9beecc81da7e149e7f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/90a4d185e3e3db7a6e8c3f8de89f976a.jpg

From here I wanted to run an oil cooler but I didn't want it feeding through to the front of the car and wanted something compact and hidden so I decided to go with a z20let oil and water coolant part, this replaced the standard pipe and bolts in the same place and connects up same as a standard oil cooler. The hardest part really was getting pipes to fit the various bits and bobs it needed.
I also fitted the cam pulleys, z20let water pump as it had better fins, the backing plate, pulley bracket I have thrown in a before picture to show the difference but it's really coming together now.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/5551347807c6e8aeb0ee9201773d4e26.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/62cfce18ff9f61e2100022b01624ceec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/8489467b42f6f8c570a782eb20d6e4c9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/063ea1864afcdd2717c7c3df2eeaade5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/eb9e69c739794cef941365d6fd5c74c5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/912702eb441efe97bfeb08454112b26e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/3639820d1efb3a4dbba6f013addf61b9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/7e71d7a37466f980016b76f3f4be2db7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/5fdf21ae9136af9a346d9937fc61ac46.jpg

The nova managed to have a few bits of work done on the shell and got moved to the front of the work shop but has been there a while now and has made a bit more progress but more on that later.
I got the inlet fitted and piped up with a few pictures showing the space left and room for the icv and coil pack too, I also got a few more engine bits painted up and smoothed the oil filler cap but I may need to go over it again at some point as it's not overly smooth. I fitted the cam cover but not the belt and pulleys just to keep it from being damaged.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/ad23ce12de24f9cea0850de1df9017d7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/6f0887fe59cb7f9d7045d63656102223.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/58b5acf83c0627b569e5f46fa139586f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/60df04aef1cfe10acfcd4b05d9cd11ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/e2a7e1e85c5da46a92942f657fc66435.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/51a933705b30e08220f59305e3ed16e0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/61e0920a1bdaed8638b466999c9d1cc3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/b585acd6d8b9f9ccc569eeec623c29ba.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/23439ee070bb88a3c5811fa375bae84b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/5e27bb618612ed13742d974e810506b7.jpg

I put the fuel rail back on and heat shield just so I could see the finished result even though it's not quite there, a few bits need piping up but will be done when in the car I think as I'm hiding alot of the pipes. It's come out great I feel and I've tried to build it so everything I have put back on the engine is either painted or stainless.
Can't wait to actually get it in the car now when it comes back from being painted.
The turbo will need plumbing in etc too but will be done in the car so nothing's damaged when fitting the engine.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/f82d5a3014833881b4acc09ed417543e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/0a55c774ccced882276456bb98f4eda3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/28e9cb2cb02fbe108e1632ce695b3830.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/24047a9cc68a00f269c5ae6dde83fa20.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180522/76d14f7bce006cb653430a14b86b62d6.jpg

So it's been a long time since I updated this thread, large amounts of the updates were about the engine build with the intention I'd have the car back over the summer after the repaint to begin the rebuild, this took a lot longer than planned and now 2 and half years later has finally been repainted and I'm due to pick it up on Saturday.
So with this news I better get updating, especially on the shell, missed loads of bits before it went off the be painted to so will catch up with these.
Get the welding done on the fuel filler and the cap filed down to give a good fit, this has all since been tidied up and looks lovely and smooth.
This fits nicely in the door shut and doesn't foul on any other parts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190529/f6e71dc121bed22c79cfff23baca412e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190529/02d121034acb349fb131abb8b8b8af1f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190529/d18f767d7e29cf15a64eef334d289fe1.jpg

The aim with the engine bay was to have it as smooth as possible, I never really liked how to wiring loom came up through the passenger side footwell and made the shape different to the drivers side on the firewall, so as the wiper motor was being relocated and the wiring loom was being relocated this was a prime time to make something up that I liked, the firewall was cut out and the loom hole was welded up, from here I shaped up some thin steel and welded this in, I'm really happy with the shape and once the welds are ground back and a skim of filler is applied it will look great. At the same time I made a notch in the chassis leg for the alternator, I didn't really like the full box section versions so cut three sides of the section and shaped this with some plate to make a smooth recess.

I was thinking about leaving the back arches as they were in pretty good condition but there was always something I wasn't sure about on them after previously having new arches fitted by someone else so decided to grind everything back and see what the result was and what I found, upon little digging you can see I found a large amount of filler over both quarters reaching right down to the sill, I then took everything back and found that a repair panel had just been welded over the top of the old panel that had just had the rust cut out.
This meant that moisture was being trapped in between the two panels and you can see from the pictures it looked a mess so a large amount of panel had to be cut back to fix this and get the shape right.
Overall I'm glad I decided to go ahead with replacing the panels. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/043d00c03e1a742afa44674005039d5f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/b197de110de828171489ba4d373a981e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/e3820d5f6d671ed8f7f60f2e39989857.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/5a20646905c63d456499150f370ea298.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/61be8bf98f1a20c6e474a7ed54f75754.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/f4e5853964ebb4df8fc8d224af5244da.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/b17aeec24fa362a5d03ac556f6f3d9f7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/93dcd33791adad9706c55dd2e77070c7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/4f4455a80ad23ef7da9e18a860f88e80.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190612/f89a71de7f9764332940a8c2bbf21551.jpg

Everything was cut back way more than what normally would be cut back just to get to the good rust free stuff, both inner and outer arch was trimmed back, a new inner panel was then welded in, the fitment on this wasn't great but got beaten into shape and few little bits of metal added in at certain sections, I later found out that people use two outer skins for this process but this way worked.
The outer one was marked up and trimmed back as required until flush then spot welded in to keep the heat down and evertually fully welded to join everything. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/77ccef0561ad26206626cda5a23377f2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/e054100ce4ada9d91985eb79756ccafd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/8c9f4e0f72cfd43113d4c15cb831a169.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/ac989a1cece9315c520de69f3b352adb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/6a181e6d8ccff1836fe1fb762df897ae.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/43103e36cf74fb850c595cf27217010c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/b50f3b9e4059e7c0888dce462f12504d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/3137ec0bf6030612a886be53a5287594.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/809d7fbc64d194309f76fef0b7c956e5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/05d3c718d6f755eae29faaf7209bc309.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/3c2d6bfa4581777c52a805920abe54f2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/0d2cb79f4250447a6e56206b867b4550.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/7ef40d090344c2d6816bbb7371fef5a8.jpg

From there decided to see if the other side was the same although this looked a lot better shaped I still imagined I'd have the same situation and I did.
Everything was cut back and replaced with the arch fitting well on this side too.
The shell was pretty much ready now to go off to the painters. This was roughly November 2016.
Lots more progress to update with. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/119ab31f7fe2842cfc499fec69acce1f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/1f6df63f0edc6b527d98a91b4b79d653.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/a289cee261c68e14b6f11ca9c8969aaa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/95d04ad62270c8321d9f4173d5e0eead.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/b13fe3b7b770513fe8e2faaee015d4c9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/d4903016e3b47ac886342897c2341ea1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/01b19054e9b29ced75ef1f185833ee53.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/f8234890bece89c41fc8471a2f61f777.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/01b085edc065d526aae2dc78483c97d5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/ca00f7bb96decb933e83580ed83e366e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/f79439ec92d1704212f66be8786ed5b2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/2eca8a7d4085067570331146fdb34f30.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/30008f884be94ad9b07b4d96fd1bbc82.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190613/80e405e84c4ed573678e4d3b4de8887c.jpg

More of a catch up update again, so the car went off in the condition below, I made up the trolleys for it to go on and made it easy to get around the spray unit etc.
Prep work started on a few panels with finding a few bits of rust on the doors in section but easily enough sorted.
The boot sections were welded up more flush along with the wings as there were previous sinking marks on the last paint job hopefully stopping this from happening again.
Welds were tidied up around the engine bay along with a section needing replacing due to a weak spot found by the painter.
Sorry for the pic heavy post.
Thanks for looking.

So, getting to the good bits now, I was pretty sure on the colour already but wanted a tester doing as in loads of pictures I had seen, the colour looked loads different in every picture.
I donated a spare wing I had to the painter and it came up amazingly well, couldn't be happier with the choice and will look just as I wanted it to when it's all painted.
A few pictures below with one of my mate (the painter) modelling the wing well

As the shell was off having work done I built the engine up which is further back in the thread and also got on with cleaning up the tank from the previous silver It had on it which had partly peeled up as the pump line had previously been leaking, it was stripped back to bare metal, primed and painted gloss black, I do like the look of carbon skinned ones but I imagine would be expensive.
I never liked the sunroof on the car too as I think it was a non standard tilt sunroof that leaked I just didn't like it, anyway decided whilst all this work was happening I'd weld it up, got a sheet of metal and just spot welded it in until it held up. Ground everything back and left it to be prepped and smoothed. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/317e582eb2199c04a2f473d3cb49342a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/300400d084b20ca83851e0f720c5dcbb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/08c8a034f5e89e2bca628666da207c3d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/97289560a061b267a4b7579e589a5ee7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/6e9f635a96e9bb25f7eff21cd5502f5f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/546e17ee98a40440bf06bd39683a49a3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/ff31fae68a51d1aa5d4787856eab304d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/f5721091026ac237d5825ed3afd5d5cf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/82e72788d5872a3dec0e7ff5052c8d26.jpg

Sorted some more bits out that I wanted doing, started with strengthening the wish bone arms with some 3mm plate, cut them to shape, welded in and tidied up before a prime and paint.
I also sorted the gearbox mount for the f20 3 bolts, this also got painted but must have missed the pictures.
I then made up some lowered tie bar brackets, welded some 3mm plate to make them roughly 20mm lower, just need to get some box section to make fit correctly on the car. These were painted gloss black too. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/705967ead75d2ed321b58c2008229522.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/c5f13f069cdcce596f406b03f686819a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/2cbe3d61a852f5056d96e37972aabf5b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/0fe20bbb77efa8a9c4859788aff369a5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/fc2651164e94a839f8e586a7283c66e0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/262abb848e8e05daa15735805c486ad4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/54026a78cc5b535a7cbdde633695044a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/faf63345292f56f31e3af6f743e7acd0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/3d22205b0e9723094942f8e0e9cb11e8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/7cf93b4a12210792a9492d28474a84e7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/56a2a11c7e1a1b24ed76fc834939f748.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190624/56e48484ef685b78781ddd0af5aaaf0c.jpg

When I'd previously had the rear disk setup the cable sat to high from the beam so when running the car low it was rubbing on the chassis and never really worked very well, so I've decided to run astra cables for the handbrake but saw that people had issues with the mounts catching on the chassis so decided to run a length of tube through the rear beam to keep the strength but channel the cable at a lower angle and curing these problems, so I cut out a small Grove and welded in the length of tube, had a test fit and looked to work well, as I was also turreting the rear end the coilovers would fit better and a bit more into the car so to reduce the angle and give the suspension that little bit more travel i moved the rear suspension mounts slightly and welded these in, the rear beam then got sand blasted and powder coated black. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/1e95979ae30b3183498c9d42ce9f6706.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/1134c2c857556f47cece9df353ce9a7f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/d2c92cba473f0eb59514c6c63e2821c1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/5c485009fb3e1b8a88a30c1020df9268.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/f233e1ec97d14cf0af865152dbcb62ab.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/e89d95db59f62a84846add702b38201f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/cfe3232c553bea3e70dc3a4ae4b3c53d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/950bdc4edc7be8eabec929db01531df5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/b6b50fc727c5a1ffd9a2dbd1a21f887e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/07cdfd7a4e1487133deaf2d2e23cc8fb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/dde345b10248d49a3d29c20060a40aa7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190625/bdd44a1c3bb10811770fc8fd04c68b10.jpg

A lot work was done on the engine bay first, both legs were fibreglassed and smoothed along with all other bits in the bay having the same process, the full engine bay was then polyester primed then flatted and blocked to get everything as smooth as possible.
The plan was to give the whole shell and repairs the same process and once everything was blocked and flatted it would then be primed and painted. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/02c51e623e297c18d2acb8e19427cc78.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/ac4e4f7b107c59f25494628aa94c2580.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/352c3b11cb811eceef41f484d71d6d2b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/97ef6e2b207d91f2c35b0859d311e7c6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/eb7b1afa001251a5b111218b902dc01a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/837fdda490ba3062979249f916559a43.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/48fe9230dd99a4fa123f72b6fca1d761.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/132f41008581a0145ddcd89e53205f61.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/bc09bbbf0b87d7f78b69746465ef4c8f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/214deb317b1de4ddb09a7d191251bc18.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/b370cdf30b4fabbe74051ae3e600d7bc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/72c300e5c514964e050ccaed731b6b16.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/68f3916f1df6440b05fee74b26e3077b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190630/3c9b319638fed51832894b73f9b763a4.jpg

The arches were reshaped and tidied up with the doors on too correcting all the swage lines on the whole car, everything was then polyester primed, looked nice just being one colour for oncehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/e82e28a834aa929b4285e88899b9e266.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/7ab9880bcd9394858642aaafa9d3f1ba.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/ff696fa9c9f91516a8378515c973924a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/8c9afd4ff0b792658e2eb0dc946a2a1b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/5d5405d32362068eeef9c7fb39fe412a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/8a20852c6c1f8737af90774374d9eb42.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/c1f868329ad80c9b711907f605ec1070.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/ea21fef4416d9eca18c771a1e52470bb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/fdd706d41b4deb76d14c43162c66d4ce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/b4371610a3147d196d44804e98174671.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/e6039775b92e6f9b14048675588b7286.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/43ad5a995ca9779d65c96570da0b2262.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/8f951c88972dcb268623904675a07f66.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/eea439207355cd5451dba82e437b4b08.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/9471ca12b8868b5e0815b1a05712f940.jpg

Everything was then primered including doors and all the panels and all the small bits hoping to get some colour on. The order of all the bits to get painted was the shell starting with underneath, engine bay, interior then exterior and finally all the panels then after the shell is done. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/1987a0b7a270e840e034116f2b4dc15d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/617f2ea5bba8a5e9fd4c93d052764bb3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/a85777ab939d8d9f470d8ebc8c23d621.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/b6dce41ec5afdf8acee7a2df629289e9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/56d0a0d52565edff0f50159ad8f00356.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/945a25000d72d9796476fb9964ddee7b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/c538da8f1e4ff8692fecd06e2e67a9d6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/6c9f255e0d16098ef97eddd6968355a3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/63b9f82d304bddd635b6973e648ec2f6.jpg

The engine was also primed at the same time as all the final niggly bits had been picked up. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/828d1616ed6b88b0f0d4980f5c2b716d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/77982a0c792380f642ce8a1adf113a0c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/faa5fd2a088a14029e53154b9826d557.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/63ea78d31214ca6b8a24367cdb04d3bd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/393e1108daf0fded4996f620014a054f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/f505176986217c692aa975389dbed90d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/26fda84fe13417d03af5aebd7f37a3fa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/6fa8b12e29edbd3d5cf5ac213073adde.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/d0f84e0da42bffa374482d54a929c8aa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/002217789a30142222ea7e8fb960f10a.jpg

Starting off with the shell it was put back on the jig and masked up, underneath was then primed, raptor sealed with the non tintable stuff, I did it this way as I wasn't sure if the colour would be altered by the raptor on mixing, it was then painted and lacquered. Absolutely love how it's turned out and even more so the colour, couldn't be happier with it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/aa5afc076351f40f97075946e6b96183.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/e70a9c45cb6da62e27e0be52693f270e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/4399fa3fe8084f8732ff0df72a28b434.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/07897ab1997784b95af5578911cf73b2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/2ad58dd1e0ae6d6b87ecd6dd01fd73ec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/30d7d5d693e3ca00b5f56cd269e6352c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/aa1b505f543ccbf6aa72e166297f5ba5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/f6861d52e806776dd0d0e8fe099ba739.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/5861fc43b321b33f9369d82192273f67.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/184848fa2247d43655ba8176f8b5d83f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/46afa79a9dd3d4e7c7bd2233cbaed1a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/bcfdb996a3122a4d639865b6961aeb8e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/83b8931e331c98e361de29e5457d6d3d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/ca2337c23019cdc617e823f06bb3e7fb.jpg

The battery tray scuttle area was also painted at the same time, this didn't need to be perfect as will be hidden anyway but looks really good. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/9242ba96769ef5f6d8f9fae657ba441c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/145c8e3f29b51a8686386880c48f71cd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/2b9e86c119f283799304e1471b9dae63.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/9361ec24b5f806ee25ed94dad254c95e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/639af3548b254921ffc45cf74157c5de.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/431fad176cd261d9e7a58675339b3734.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/f53db294b67a5c60da894c2242fc8202.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/2909109b4b2905bfcda685992b0b8d99.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190703/65fc23fd9c6d46e0aa9be235d5d35510.jpg

Next up were the front inner wings shell and panels, along with the engine bay, the inner wings had the same treatment as underneath, primed, raptor sealed, painted and lacquered. The primer and raptor was done seperatley then everything was painted together.
The finish on the engine bay came out amazing and so happy with the colour and finish, lovely bit of smoothing going on too. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/8c9434370edaa3e00066e3282c83f877.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/d57b83f957d96ebfd24716b585a30bd7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/a211bb202fac4bb8b96b808b9c06b207.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/f3b1a2b8116ef06e63cc1a18f1db20b5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/33f572b70783f52a4a3be697610f65a3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/29a02437109a41b1a50085e017a617af.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/098692a53fc8d72d78c7b91e881597e1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/060cfc91e24e2deedb3f0e90ab963dcb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/2a2cf54daec34a36e60f1e30ec29987c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/571c5bfc8af65a08bbf0fcc982ae36a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/421121e8e9c9babaa289457e8afdb505.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/4b6ee2487bb34786f3a7ee83fb300842.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/a58036898cf8a43caf593a9111e8f66a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190704/71ef78a7959ad1c70c021ed9aa4026f5.jpg
