View Full Version : Safe to use this mount?

I bought a Nova F28 mount kit of eBay.

The bit that welds on the chassis seems dodgy, looks like they didn't heat up the metal and just bent it so its sheared off a little.

Question is shall I send it back or is it OK to use?

My concern is it might snap when its carrying the weight of the F28.

Looks ok on other side:

Does look thin almost like shelving brackets, I don't own a F28 so will also wait.

I'd use it, just have it welded down the outside and then down fold

How did you not need the bit that welds to the body?

Yeah

How come you only need the other part? Is your car already been converted to F28?

no i have a brand new o/s engine mount bracket that i was going to use, i had thought about welding the split in the bracket like yours but unsure if that would make it stronger or not

Do you need that peice only if you are fitting an F28. I want to fit a C20let with a f20 for now and might go with the F28 later. But I don't know where to start.

The pic I posted up is the part which holds the rubber mount, you also need the part that goes between rubber and gearbox

Buy the two part mount kit of ebay, weld the first part to the chassis leg after removing the existing mount with a spot weld drill, chisel and hammer, get a second Nova front engine mount and bolt it all up, job done ( add some paint after welding to look pretty)

And this is the same for F20 and F28?

f20 is a stright fit with a mod to the rear mount

No F20 use the standard Nova mount and just bolts, don't use any thread lock though as you'll struggle to unbolt it when you kill the box in the first month unless you drive like my nan lol

^^ lol. I know where your coming from. I bought the engine and it came with an F20 box. I would prefer the F28 for Motorway usage anyway, but haven't been able to find one. But if I would need to change the mount in the future, I would rather do it befor it goes for paint.

Decisions Desicions lol

I wouldn't be that happy with that. As you'll be welding the other side of the crack. At min i'd weld up the cracks.

Now i know where not to buy mine from.
