blue / white smoke

just put a x16xe into my corsa was told it was running good.
started it up and has constant blue / white smoke
doesnt do it as much in 4th / 5th

anyone have ideas what it is ?
i was thinking piston rings...

not sure to be honest mate i havent had alot of time to mess around with it, what should i check ?

Is it blue/white smoke or just one of the above? If its both, could be HG

head gasket valve steam oil seals and the worst case rings, do a compresion teast if its low drop a bit of oil down the offending cylinder/ cylinders and try again if the reading increases its the rings
