Fook contacts, i've seen the hassle Jack has to go through every morning and night, plus I aint touching my eyeballus for no one!

Just ordered some goggles with reactive lenses so for the time being I dont have to worry about prescription sunnies (as my eyes are properly sensitive as it is so i'm normally constantly in sunnies anyway).

btw i got rid of mt reactions as they work of uv light, when driving unless the sun hits them directly they dont tint lol

Yeah I know that, I plan on getting some proper prescription sunnies later on.

I'm not long or short sighted anyway, its an astigmatism in my left eye so i dont have to wear them to drive (i'm well within legal limits apparently).

Just want to combat the headaches i'm getting as my right eye is obviously working overtime to correct it.

ahh sounds familiar, contacts dont correct astigmatism, well i had atrial for a new type of lense that does but with old age it will get worse, i speak from experience :(

contacts aint that bad, when i was about 10 i was blinded by a twig getting jammed in my eyeball, it only lasted a few days but i freaked out anytime i got even a hair in my eye after that, but now i use daily disposable contacts no probs, man up and stick your fingers in your eyes lol

Yes they do.

Man up, contacts are so much better than goggles. I couldn't go back to specs after wearing lenses for 12+ years now, they give me epic headaces lol

And hassle my ****, it takes me 30 seconds to put them in or take them out and clean them :p

Normal contacts can/do, the ones I've been wearing for years do. And my mum has been wearing lenses for ~45 years that correct her astigmatism too ;)

Unless I'm getting the wrong end of the stick here lol

a go by what the woman in the shop sayslol, she told me that the focus dailies i use help my vision but cant correct it but the newer lenses are designed to correct it, to be fair my vision is always 100% with my glasses but not as good with contacts and there the same prescriction,

but i really want that prescription windscreen :)

WRONG! I use Focus Dailies (toric iirc). And i have astigmatism.

And contacts ftw. I shall be going to monthly lenses soon. Wearing glasses is a PITA in summer time. No shades!!

OHHHH you're talking about soft lenses.

Yeas, up until recently (as in a few years back afaik) soft lenses couldn't compensate properly for astigmatisms, only hard/gas permeable ones could.

bazil
24-07-10, 06:38 PM
Focus DAILIES Toric Lenses are the unique & first contact lenses for the patients suffering from astigmatism. Ciba vision focus dailies are the first contact lenses that meet the daily disposable model, which provides more comfort, flexibility and combines the great visual acuity. Great quality, constant and clear vision are gifted for focus dailies due to the back surface toric design combined with front surface having double thin zone.

i use standard ones, :thumb:

I cba with glasses anymore so i am willing to give them a try!

Jack
24-07-10, 06:43 PM
Toric is a design characteristic, they've only become cheap enough to use in disposable form for a few years. Prior to that they were only available on long term use lenses (i.e. hard ones)

Its ace as when someone cums on your face you get to look at the jizz rather than have it glue your eyes shut.......

I made the move to contacts earlier in the year, I flat refused to touch my eye and it felt like I was violated when she put them in my eyes, but after a couple of weeks I became a pro yo!.

If it werent for my rugbyball eyes, I'd not need glasses/lenses lol.
On 14day (errrr getting 4-6 weeks out of the things lol) Accuvue advance for retard eyes. Looked at the permy wear ones but I dont have time to keep going back to the opticians.

And as I can get a LONG time from my 14dayers, I shall be cancelling my monthly payment as I've now got 12months supply for the price of 6 months lol.

For the cost involved I cant see the point in contacts, if I had normal round eyes then yeah, could get lenses for feck all, but as it stands I could get 4-6pairs of glasses a year with the various deals for the price I pay for CON-tacts.

True, but I will be getting me some prescription jobbies. In fact last time I looked Oakley do prescription sunnies. Probably a lot of coin, but hey

pics, or it didnt happenlol

Gotta wait a week for them, so one more week of taking a paracetamol at about 10 at night, and squinting at the monitor lol

Stuart

At vision express they will sort the oakley prescription....... but basically its double the cost of whatever sunnies you pick (or £200, whichever is higher)

I assumed it wouldn't be cheap, but Id still rather buy some of them instead of poking my finger in my eye twice a day lol

see I'm stuck between a rock and a semi erect place.

I had an £80 voucher for vision express, BUT their glasses are so ****ting expensive I wont get normal ones from there, so thought about oakley prescriptions..... but then with expensive prescription sunnies, why the hell would I use contacts lol So For this summer I have contacts and a £6 pair of tescos sunnies :)

kidding mate, an eye check up is a good thing, my old boss went for an eye test and found he had a cancer tumour at the back of his eye, if left untreated it would have taken his life but 11 years on he is still cancer free but minus an eye, if youve not had a check in 2 years it should be free anyway

lol, if I had a stigmata, I don't think a pair of specs would sort it out

Jack

SRSLY its no big deal to touch your eyes. You won't feel a thing. Your eye has no pressure nerves in it, so you can touch the white part all day long and not feel a thing (obviously you'd feel something if you jabbed it but why teh funk would you do that lol). If you're that worried about it, put the lens on the white part and move it across. I regularly do that as I find it easier to position the lens.

Taking them out is easy too, takes less than a second and you don't even need to touch your eye.

As for cost, get hard ones. Yes, they cost something like £200 a lens depending on how squiffy your eyes are, but when you realise they will last a good 5 years without needing to change they work out considerably more economical than monthlies or other soft lenses. I think I've had mine for about 5-6 years and they're still good.

[edit] and there's much less risk of infection with hard lenses, assuming you clean them properly

El snapo. I have had contacts for about 18 months now and also have spacky eyes. I took a good while getting them in and out to start with but now it's a two second job before brushing my teeth morning and night.

I also have the Acuvue 14 day ones, I usually wear them for 4-6 weeks but I made mine last 2 1/2 months when I was waiting for my friend to get me some more in on the cheap. I have had them for next to nothing as my mate WAS the manager of an opticians but he's since left so I'll probably start making them last a little longer again :thumb:
