Someone has pointed me in the direction of some wheels in the above size.
Opinions if they will fit ? lol
I can see stretched tyres are a must, what sort of size am I looking at ?
If I got them I'm thinking cut the stub axle mounting plate off the rear beam and weld it the other side, that gives about 10mm per side so the should clear the arches, front ? Get someone to take 5/7 mm off the back edge of the wheel ?
Is this safe ?
Wheels are very special otherwise I wouldn't be thinking about all this to get them on lol
Opinions/thoughts ?
you'd have to have a good look at the wheel to see how much you could safely remove from the wheel,
you can always make (or get someone you know) to make a pair of narrower track front arms, it would be easy to shorten them by 10mm, and then all you would need is a pair of camber bolts and adjust the tracking,
Cracking idea with the rear beam!! ;)
Should be fairly straightforward imo!
I'll drop a beam off to you soon then lol
I think Brett took a couple of mm off the back of his alulines but 5/7mm sounds a tad extreme, along with the rest of it.
What wheels are they? They surely can't be worth it
Something very rare, won't say incase someone else wants them lol
My thinking is that if I modify the beam to fit that opens the door to fitting other wheels in the future, not sure on the bottom arm/ camber mods, surely that will change they way it handles ??
Haha you'll have me trawling ebay and WW out of intrigue I did find some wheels that possibly are them hmm

Surely narrowing the beam just pulls the inside face of the wheel/tyre into the damper?
It comes down to tolerances at the end of the day, not the shell/beam tolerances we all know of, but the fact that an estimation of oh it should clear, wheras something thats 2mm overlapping is simply not going to fit.
Sadly you need the wheels & a bunch of different tyre profiles to offer it up & experiment. Thats what the stance game is all about. It's never easy.
Thing is I might just get them and make them fit somehow lol
I would of thought that modifying the beam in that way would just put the wheel where it should be not near the shock ?
with a bit of simple measuring you can work out if it'll work, on paper at least.

Yes but that works together with the offset pushing the wheel back out again thus making the wheel sit in the same place as a standard setup:thumb:
Rich, what have you started in my mind lol
Was set on have the steels on until I seen these lol
Now I'm thinking of chopping up me beam to fit them lol
chopping up a beam isnt that much of a commitment, its not as though you cant put a standard one back on at a later date

There under saloon arches tho
tbh i think once the rear beam is done, you shouldnt have a problem.
the front arches are more forgiving

yes....but it gives an idea of size

imo there is be beam modding needed.

Yeah but they do look god damn good though dont they!
Think I need a new nickname, 'The finder' maybe? lol

i know!
i was the one that suggested it to Edd, and it'll be me modding it! lol

on a 14x6 you will struggle to get a tyre that looks stretched unless you go 165-60-14 or 155-65-14 which are really narrow
go & watch american hotrod or similar on discovery channel... you will need to move the inner arches in as well as narrowing the beam

No you won't need to alter the inner arches at all!
By using et34 instead of et49 the wheels sit out 15mm further, so by narrowing the beam 10mm you will still have 5mm more clearance from the inner arch than if you were to use et49!
Then it would surely touch the shock
No! Modifying the beam only compensates for the difference in offset the wheel will be similar to standard wheel compared to wheel arch inner arch and shock!

Forget offset, the wheel is six inches wide so the standard arch tub can accommodate the wheel no problem and as long as you cancel out the offset with the adjustment of the beam it will sit in the same place as a standard setup. Is this so hard to understand? Just thought it was common sense.
i know!

right... i f*cked up there.
i wanted to say..imo there is no beam modding needed.
to fit a wider offset wheel in the std space, the stub needs moving in. this seems like a massive waste of time & effort compared with actually getting either the hub modified, or the inside of the rim machined, or ordering correct offset rims....
Rear beam mod as spoke about is the cheapest and easier way of doing the rear, front may be a little harder to sort but doable I'm sure, all this talk might be pointless if I don't win the auction tho lol
Using Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs, bout 30mm drop
i still think you can get away without modding,
small wheels, no massive drop. just use some smaller tyres.
You bought the rims then Edd?
That's a big NO
Out bid by a few seconds ffs
Back to searching, tbh it's kinda put me in the mood to find something special
If they were the wheels I wouldn't be too bothered, they were ok but not worth this hassle
I only say as the winning bidder's I.D started with an E
go on tell us lol
i had 6x15 et 35mm on my sr and the front wasnt bad at all, it was lowered by 60mm on the back it did rub fairly bad and the arches were rolled but iirc the front only rubbed on full lock
Chap selling the wheels I was after sent me a second chance offer this morning and I accepted.
This is the wheels, what do you think? opinions please.

The winning bidder had bid on something else the same bloke was selling hmmmmmm

He had two sets of wheels the same forsale ?
Oh maybe it is all legit then, I did see the Non polished set but thought it was a different seller, my bad
so when are you droping off a beam to me then!
Cheers Conner, I think there something different and will look good on the Sport
Si, I may look into doing the beam myself, but will let you know if that's ok, won't be for a month yet anyway
