Up here in the Norf we have the A686 - Known as Hartside Pass, Located between Penrith and Alston, is fab.

Southern roads suck, too many people and high hedges! Nice photos Jack but those roads are too straight for my liking!

Bradford eh? How about going across the Cat and Fiddle and taking a detour down to Goyt Valley? There are average speed cameras on the C&F now but still a nice road.

There are loads of awesome roads around the Penines. Just take the A57 or A537 and pick a side road to enjoy :thumb:

the stretch between Whitby and Scarborough is always fun. failing that anything over the moors to Whitby is fairly epic.

Snake Pass is also getting specs cameras!

As Shell said, Hartside is good fun, my choice of route when returning East of a Friday! 60 is the average speed limit isn't it?? :d

Most of the outer roads on the Isle of white. They basicly lap the outside edge of the Island and are frigging awesome. Not many cops out there either.

I drove the C&F but sadly in the wrong car.

Mark head towards Skipton then aim for Settle and go on all the back roads over the tops and head for Swaledale to a place called Tan Hill CLICKY (http://www.tanhillinn.com/tan-hill-inn/swaledale/yorkshire-dales/accommodation/holiday-cottage/weddings/live-music/good-food/fine-ales/1/). This is the postcode for your sat nav (DL11 6ED)
There's some absolutely quality roads around there and make sure you've got plenty of petrol. :)

All of my 'fun' roads are off limits now, till ohh late september as you are likely to find a tractor round a blind bend lol

I quite like the McDonalds drive thru.
The scenery isnt always the best, but a couple of the speed humps are pretty testing & they have recently installed an intercom now which adds a bit of mystery to the experience.

This gets my vote as well , the A169 from Whitby to Pickering (or vice versa)
17 miles of pure pleasure - I'm a Whitby lad born and bred.

i like it starting from the clockhouse up through wetwang and molton then turn off the pickering road to thorntonly dale at the pottery place then onto the whitby road and over the moors, glad my dad lives in whitby gives me an excuse to go for a drive lol

also like to hit it at about 6am theres sod all on it and give me a chance to stretch the novas legs, theres something abouth that long hill on the moores with the kink ant the bottom love getting the foot down and using all the road to get round can see for miles the slow signs are just for tourists lol the thornton le dale turn off looks to be the one just above the a169 marker on your map iirc

That will be the A164 up to Driffield then...B1249
B1249 is my favourite.Hammering the bollocks off my Xe Nova down there at 5am a few weeks ago was brilliant. No cars,no bikes,no plod.My favourite bit is the part from driff showground-staxton.
The A171 Scarborough-Whitby is alright but too many lorries.
A170 Scarborough-Pickering is good but a few 30mph villages to pass through
Rob,the wawne-tickton road is dangerous,in a bad way,not good!!

any road is a good road, pull over in a safe place, apply handbrake, or left foot brake for rear wheel drive fans, apply throttle to your desire, i like full imo, then dump clutch, BURNOUT untill you are content, or cannot see anymore, release brake, and carry on though the fog and check eleven,s in rear veiw mirror! pure bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup thats the best bit when you pull off onto the b1249 so many people dont go that way due to staxton hill even in summer its not that busy and i also know the road like the back of my hand (used to go scarborough every weekend from being about 10 lol) remember my dad once overtook a plaggy pig on the long hill to foxholmes while towing a massive twin axle caravan with the senator it nearly wobbled over lol we used to leave it for the season at the flower of may near cayton so were there all the time

I was just about to say this. My area is next door to clitheroe and isnt far at all from you. Basically anywhere between clitheroe, upto lancaster and as east as skipton/settle you have an area full of twisty, quiet and exciting roads. Me and my mates used to spend hours and hours every night just driving through them.

I would advise going at night, obviously because it's even more quiet and also because you can see if there's any traffic coming around all the blind bends.

I wouldnt advise doing what me and my mate did late on new years eve and head towards the middle of nowhere in the middle of all that snow we had lol

EDIT : just re-read and realised you said sunny days. As lovely as it is during the day, night time is where the fun is at.
