View Full Version : Scrap Prices
I've tried googling it and the only thing I can find is bulk prices, for containers full etc, I know it goes up and down alot and its not really in my way so just want to get the best price for it, its a bit of clean aluminium I've acquired from work and apart from calling the scrap people everyday to see what they are paying, I don't know how to keep in touch with it.
Thanks in advance

its **** at the minute, fennys yard is down to about £30 a tone for cars :( i waiting for it to go back uo so i can weigh all my locks in lol
if you can get a website for one of the bigger scrap merchants they normally have real time prices on their site.
Just can't remember the one i used to use :wall:
That what I don't know also whats good and bad for clean ali?
ali is around £200 a tonne for clean iirc at the moment.
Is that good or bad though I have nothing to gauge it off?
Never dealt with ally, only copper & cat convertors for me im afraid.

The only problem with ally is it weighs very little to start with so you need probaly 3 time the quanity of copper/stainless to make same weight :(

well, what do you mean by bad or good? its the current going rate in my area.
Yours may differ, you need to ring them and just ask them what theyre paying for it.Then go to the one thats paying the most, simple.Scrap prices go up and down all the time.Currently its down.

Exactly why I dont bother it as I got nowhere to store the stuff, where as (and as you say) 200 weight of copper can be stored in such a small area!!

I have one of the rubber buckets you put cement and stuff in that i fill up with locks, take up no space at all and normally earns me £120 every time lol
200 for ally is low! very low! Was in the region of 1700 last year

Yeah monkey buckets FTW I got two full of bright copper & 1 full of used old pipework
leads also good
Lead does seem to make good money, cast Iron does if youve got loads of it too.
what can you do?,its just either have it cluttering up your garden/garage or cash it in

yeah,we used to save the weights out of old box sash windows we ripped out.And lead came from off cuts from step leading conservatory roofs and bow window conversions for the roofs etc
So if its currently low I'll sit on it and see if it rises later in the year, its not in my way and the pile will just get bigger and its not doing any harm where it is, thanks for all the help
