Use gromits for the small holes. Cut and bend a piece of metal for the big retangle shaped hole. Use the origonal threads and nuts to secure it.

Job done.

What's the point tho ?

Surely at some stage your going to need your heater ?

Weight saving, hardly fook all
Only if you have a heated front screen is it worth doing

Only if you have a heated front screen is it worth doingi plan to have a heated screen and when you are removing 500g bits of metal to save weight the heater box and motor is a massive saving.

mikes corsa is going to be an all out pod blaster so no heater needed

You couldnt be more wrong actually.

You wont be driving it anyway, so its not really your problem. Or is it

No it's not my problem, I was just curious to understand why people did it that's all, if your just using up the strip I can now see the logic behind it.

Didn't know your Corsa was being built for this purpose otherwise I wouldn't of commented.

You gotta think right, you have the blower motor, the associated pipework. But ALSO the water containted inside it. Water is heavy shÃ*t.

Something like that ;)

dont forget the heater controls can also be removed and the cables, another 5g saved lol

sorry edd mikes reply is spot on, and its not just based for cars using the strip. The extra weight is forward, so any loss is a great thing on a stripped shell, esp when using a big block and it comes cancelling out the weight. For a perfect balance it requires 'messing around'. Lets not forget most people go pah the matrix weighs nothing, when its empty maybe so, but when you add the weight of the pipes that feed the matrix, the heater motor and matrix, then take into account the extra water that was required to use the system it adds up nicely to all the other savings made up front. Every little bits adds to a grand total (and mikes gay cos he beat me to it)

I have managed to get my car handling very much like my old 8v track car, if not better which means the effort was worth it even for the track. It still has so much scope it stupid, but i draw the line quite early on.

Anyway, apologies mike, back on topic

So you put chequer plate into the new one........ no wonder its front heavy lol

Edd, the heater unit + water weighs in at something like 7-10Kg and then the motor is another good kilo or so. Thats a HELL of a lot to drop for minmial cost

Edd

Never thought it weighed that much tbh

Good saving of weight it that's what's needed, makes me wonder if I should leave it out now iv got
a heated front screen lol I suppose really tho it's for the track/strip boys, like Mike and Dan where every gram counts.
