went notts last nite and only just managed it, wot could course this, it used 2 b a 1.2i, canhged everything including the tank and pump.

very quick up 2 80, beats me m8's cav SRI and almost beat a 205 1.9, missed 3rd gear

its this top end that worrys me

got a piper 272 cam and rebuilt engine including head work, new pistons, crank everything.

all bedded in and its running ok.

ne ideas??

oh it is running on 17's and full bodykit, only had me and the missis in the car.

I hit 110 at a struggle 2nite, but all i got now is an air filter! i think its fairly precise, as its digital! but like u sed, 80, it flies, at 110 it seems a struggle! didnt wanna push it any further! i think revs wer bot 5k, i think! cant quite recall!

mark, have you still got an f10 gearbox from the 1.2 conversion? Or is it an f13 cr?

That might cause it maybe?

nah m8ty ive got the f13 on, my filter looks bit dirty, this might corse it,

got a stage 4 head, with the cam and vernier pulley,

also running the old 1.2i fuel lines, could this be it???

fuel lines wont effect long as they getting good pressure off the pump and shud be seen as u get good acceleration.

what profile tyres are u using?

u do realise if u had 17s with 40 profile tyres the rolling circumference is almost 10% greater than what the original wheels would read.

eg with 17s reading 110mph 14s would read 121mph, and 17s will be dragging so that kinda works out to be right.

u cant use 17s on these cars and noit expect drop in performance unless u have over 200bhp

Mate my speedo is accurate up to bout 80ish alongside my dads new car and i know its not far out right the way through but ive had off the clock in my nova gte (andys gte in the gte gallery). 110 IN 4TH and then pinned it all the way of the clock. Dave who owns the bright orange nova in the gte section has seen me go past him well in excess of 120mph. Go get the cam timing set up maybe and see what happens. let me know how it goes mate.

the 1.7td with f13cr tops out at this speed due to the low revs on the deisel, the gte can get around 130mph on the limiter :)

Sounds bout right mate. Ive never hit a limiter in top gear in any car but i was f**king close then.

in std form, a 1.6 gte should pull 6000rpm and in top that equals 120mph.
supermarket fuel can really knacker the power... keep the air filter clean and use name brand fuel.

1.2 shud top out at around 95 so maybe overreading a little. theres ni real way of knowing unless u get it tested at a rolling road so u know how far out it is, or to get smebody with a std + newish car such as bmw/lexus etc thats gonna b accurate

Is the top speed often better in 4th? - if so you have the wide ratio box.
With 17's etc you will have too long 5th gear to get full whack out of it. Also after a re-build you need some mileage (2-3k) before full power is found plus a rolling road session to hunt for those last few ponies
