that was an ace thread
any links?
tip..
go on a trip to africa, and travel old 80's rally routes. after a crash or big failure, the mostly left the cars.
in germany there is a guy who found an official dealer I400 manta/ascona, abandoned after a crash.
That will take some restoring! Although the rat look fans could put it straight on the road!
Corsa alloy on the front worth £5!

I couldn't be bothered trying to find the png thread but this one will do lol, oh I do beleive it was the chap who has all the mega rare ford rs models ( ie the moonstone blue RS500, HRH princess Diana's black RS TURBO ) that bought these cars.

How about this Portuguese barn find then CLICKY (http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/)
Cosworths were in Sweden iirc as there has just been a thread posted about it due to a forum member visiting the place.
The E30 M3/rs200/merc evo are part of what is know as the Bonkers collection containing many other low mileage cars inc some of the above.
For anyone that is intrested in the Bonkers collection;

i bet it is covered by his company insurance..... tbh apart from how shiny some of them are.. a low mileage cossie sapphire will never be worth gigantic money, the rs200 & di's car will but the rest aren't worth that much

Bit of an understatement IMO...
Even the cheapest car in his collection would fetch 15-20k. Say for example the red Saph.
Okay not 'Gigantic' but still a great deal compared to its/their contemporaries.

Repost or not, that is one thread worth seeing and the only fords worth owning (I'm not keen on the new Focus in there though)
Ford did make some rare oddidties tho, like the RS1700t, and the 4x4 mk4 RST both projects were killed of and the cars supposedly crushed but 1 or 2 escaped, as for the value of each car it's almost imposable to say but that poor chap in Ireland that had his mint red ECOS stolen had his var valued at £35,000 and it was a standard car!

Did you see how much Harry Hocklys standard L reg Escos sold for on eBay? 1200miles (IIRC) was thee most watched item on ebay for 10 consecutive days & sold for just under £40k
The last moonstone blue RS500 I saw for sale went for over 50k!! And it had much higher miles and had been tampered with so not a standard car, in some eyes that actually devalues it lol

At least 20 1700T's were built, a handful survived. Funnily enough a member of my local RS club has just aquired one from Germany and is subject to a rebuild. He also owns a mint RS200.
The 4x4 S2 were only 'mules' and the 3No. built never passed into the hands of the public.
As stated RS500's are commanding big money for the right car. I may be selling my MK2 FRS due to being offered a low mileage moonstone example, it could potentially be worth double what I hope to secure it for.
Good clean, original low mileage examples of any RS will always command good money. There are always enthusiasts out there who will pay it too.
The Bonkers collection is easily work over 1/2 a mill...

thats mental cash but they are well nice lol if i wont the lottery id end up with one even though im a vaux man lol
i always thought the mk4 escort 4x4 was a prototype to get approval on the escort cossie. one did get out i saw it in a CCC mag back in the day.
i never understood the rs1700t... everyone knew 4wd was the future, so ford made a 300+hp successor to the rs1800 in 2wd......

It was found again, had just started stripping it to send parts abroad, little damage done though. They knew what they were at as the parts that were taken off were well wrapped up etc. Police said it was more than likely that the car would be assembled in Europe again somewhere.
The car was bought back from the insurance and sold on again.
a few years back, a gang in london was caught stripping trucks for export.. the police followed a tractor unit to the premises, then got the armed boys to raid it. 2 hrs later. the truck was already stripped, de-cabbed & in a container. in 2 hrs!!!!!
i know of a gent who's wife has a 13k mile white 3dr sierra cossie, she uses it to go shopping, and according to him its never been over 60mph. he supplied and drove our wedding car.... :D
that sounds like a leg pull..... but i'm not saying it isn't true, just a waste
he also has other classics, and hes an elderly gent. for example our wedding car was a dodge custom royale lancer 4dr, the only one in the uk, and it had had a 15k resto last year. it had 32k on it, not bad for a 1957 car

About 12 months ago I was out doing some shopping round here, come back to the car & this old as you like bloke pulls up in the mintest all original Sierra Cosworth, obviously i was like "mmmmmmmmmm lush" so puts the window down an tells him his Sierra's properly mint.
This old blokes replies along the lines of I must be mad as its just an old ****ty Sierra that hes owned from new
Sadly never seen him to ask him if he wants rid of his old ****ty sierra since then :(

theres a 3 door near me. in a shed rotting away and the guy will not sell it!
the man must have been pulling your plonker mike...........the servicing bills would be outrageous for some old sierra..... or he might have done a mr magoo & taken the wrong car
thats mental!!!
Mate hes a proper old bloke, probably still see's in black & white kinda thing :S he'd make Mowgli think hes 19 again! Roll up smoking, luber jack shirt wearing, slipper driving old man whos sitting in the driving seat of an iconic car that he refers to as a ****tter :tard: :tard:
did it have a 'my other car is a porsche' sticker?

Hes not Mike seriously, I see him driving about now & again (but not in a situation where I can stop & talk) he just pulls out on people, parks in stupid places & goes into the chippy (where I last seen him) & leaves the keys in it
drug baron???
noddy holder??
cos they are the only people wealthy enough to have bought one of them new in the wist midlinds

Sounds like he knows all about Sierra's to me lol

FLOL lol lol
Friends of mines dad had one brand new when i was a nipper. Some fooker robbed it & it was recovered in Lozelles (Birmingham GHETTO!) cut in half :( his dad bought an XR2i with the insurance payout, when XR2i's were brand new that is.
Sounds like he knows all about Sierra's to me lol
lol lol lol soooo true lol lol
A few pennies I saw smoking it's tits off by the side of the A5 on the way to Billing, RS500 standard looking in black, poor thing
My brother in law's mate has a very nice collection of Cossies including a Gartrac (sp?)
Baxter tried racing one up the A6 last year going to or from burgos BBQ lol lol didnt really happen if im honest lol lol

As stated earlier in the thread. I know to and have viewed a 1 owner from new 14k miler RS500 in moonstone blue (The rarest colour ;-))
I have had to up my last offer but hopefully it will be sitting in my garage instead of my Mk2 FRS...

that was a truly stunning car, even with it's past history I'd still have it
mowgli, that CCC feature is the same one I saw, my dad had it in a scrap book that I can't find now, and I beleive the rs1700t was killed of after Phill Short reported back to ford after co driving in a quattro.

What a waste of fine metal
guy I bought my nova from had a white 3dr cossie in his garage all covered up. it was his dads and they'd had it from new, it had only covered something in the region of 15k. said they used it to go to le mans a couple of months before I got the nova off him.

the escort mk2 had somehow managed to win the world title against the quattro, but the safari rally etc were proper events & it was before the days of 15 minute gearbox changes, i never understood why ford got it so wrong with the rs1700t, then finally they built arguably the best group B car, just in time for it to get banned....
the gt70 was a greater tragedy, as they chose not to run it!!!!! in the era of the stratos & the 037, ford could have spanked them with a mid engined bda powered car
