Ok Its not vaux but its a vw beetle, 2001.

Currently its LHD but I NEED it to be RHD. Does anyone know how much work this will be to convert it? Im not planning on doing it myself but want a garrage to do it. Just wondering if people have done anything similar and what sort of costs where involved.
Please dont give me answers like "get used to it" as its just not an option im willing to take.
The car is stripped out with rollcage and buckets etc so all the everyday bits and bobs are not there its just pedels and steering that need moving.

Any help would be nice!:thumb:

which golf is it based on????

you will pay massively for a vw specialist to do it.......

scrap yard the bits.

why does it NEED to be RHD?? also isn't it easier to ask on a beetle forum, or did you just assume this homo lot would know as its a homo car?

burgo, its simply a golf on drag. but the bulkhead may be completely different.... and i think the lhd ones were different to the rhd ones, so i'm guessing weld in the important bits & bolt in rhd controls.
but i can't see why its so important, driving lhd is simple

Reading the title I actually thought the thread might of been some interest for when I import a Spider.

Why on earth would anyone take a new shape Beetle on track ? lol

Cheapest way would be to find a rear shunted one for spares or repair, rob all the bits you need and sell the rest.

Thats how I'd do it anyway.

I drive a LHD truck everyday, it's so bloody easy, the list of stuff needed and the price of conversion would outweigh any benefit IMO

the first year or so production was lhd only

Well when Im in the car i cant see out of the right hand side....due to rather large bucket seats+rollcage. The reason its used on the track is It handles better (set up correctly) than most other vw's (was raced in the vw cup) and surprisingly didnt weigh much more. I would buy another car and swap the bits over other than the fact this one has had lots of work done to which I cant change over to the new shell (custom roll cage etc)
Lastly it is a womans car, BUT out handles any nova Iv ever seen. yes ok im a woman!! lol But seriously I dont like driving on the left hand side at the best of times (I drive telehandles etc) but this is just not even possible on a motorway!

think seriously about fitting a rear view camera & screen.... it is way cheaper, and if you are worried about a mirror type view, aim the camera at the mirror...... then it can be easily removed for track use.

No, i mean swap the RHD bits over from the doner, and break the rest of it for parts :wtf:
