View Full Version : Bit of Help with my 1.6 8v

Just put a 1.6 8v in my mates nova

A couple of things i need to get sorted...

1. How do i get a rev counter?
2. Switch live for the fuel pump relay? were do i wire it to?

Thats all i can think of for now, thanks.

Rev counter is fed from the coil, -ve I think. Its a green wire if the loom has it in.

I thought the fuel pump relay is fed a live from the ECU??? Maybe I'm wrong.

yeah there is a green one there, the rev counter worked with the SPi engine.

The relay is working, as it turns engine over, and fires, but it proper lumpy and stalls the engine as though its not geting enough fuel. We run a perm live to it, to see if it was that, and it was fine.

would that work with a 1.2 carb engine? as i have no rev counter and wish to put one in? sorry to kinda hijack this thread

the green rev counter wire is always connected to the coil on carb engines.

just the fuel pump, but there are about 6 pins

odds on a duff relay, and it needs to be a fuel pump type if you are using it in the current way.

you could wire up any old relay to do the job but that requires a bit of a rethink (not much though)

ok its prob a duff relay then, thats fine, ill replace that, its was working fine in the car when the SPi was in there, unless it was on the wire loom for the engine, which in that case, i have another 2 looms to take one of :)

The fuel relay for the 1.6 8v is on the engine loom, sits at the back of the bay on the firewall
