I just got my 1992 1.2i on the road last week but I am having trouble getting it on my drive. The car has been lowered in the past (not ridiculously). i was going to put standard suspension back on but, the existing one is actually quite comfortable. The problem is that the cat keeps on catching where my drive meets the pavement. Bearing in mind that I can't weld or anthing, is there any way round this?
thanks

Are you sure that the rubber exhaust mounts are all there?

they seem to be, it is the cat which is attached via a big hook ( different to mk1 novas) which seeme to be big and low

No. Just the metal catching. It should have some flex from the mounts which will stop it bending. Although if yours is seriously bottoming out check it over.

what is the surface on the drive? if its gravel, then rake it back & add some type 1 stone & alter the gradient of the drive, wacker it then put the gravel back... or make up some wooden helper ramps

i tried raising the slabs on the drive by about an inch ( it also serves as a path so dont want the postie sueing if he trips!) but it is actually the ramp made by the council in the pavement, the gradient is steep and the peak before my drive starts is where it catches. Is there an easy way of raising the cat slightly on the car? Otherwise I am going to have to go back nto standard suspension....sad

park on the road.

Cable ties around the mounts if you fancy being a pikey. If it works, you could try poly bush exhaust hangers.

thanks , I am parking on the road at the moment but car is insured for drive parking and also easier to work and clean on tyhe car on the drive, will look at cable ties as a temporary measure for the moment, thanks

u could always take it to exhaust place and get them to heat it up and bend it up, i had this done to mine and it worked a treat.
