c16xe, c14xe e16se tuning?

hi there im planning soon 2 do a small block upgrade from my 993cc pushrod lol and was just wanted 2 no whats the best engine out 2 get decent power at reasonable cost not worried about money at the moment, just would like some ideas i was thinking

throttle bodies
cammed
superchiped ECT

your opinion and tuning advise would be much appriciated thanks

fit an xe. job done. it is the cheapest option, apart from insurance.

an e16se is dead easy to fit, and gives a 100% power increase immediately. and is also dead cheap to do. they respond well to head porting & cam upgrades. and will give 120ish hp quite easily. with throttle bodies, maybe more

I have to agree with the above. It depends on the amount of power you're wanting, and the amount you can spend. c/e16se will give reasonable power, which is cheap to run and insure. an xe is cheap to buy and fit but would cost more to insure and run

ok well id love 2do throttle bodies so im gonna do it on what ever engine i get would a c16xe giv much more power over a e16se both fitted with throttle bodies?

or what about carbs R1, R6 carbs they be worth looking into

Depends how much you want to spend. Fitting TBs/carbs on a E16 is much easier than a C16XE due to needing management for the ign, you cant run a dizzy on a 16v!

If it was me, id go for a standard X16XE/C16XE, Powerbox, Cams, decent exhaust, be well up to/over 120bhp.

Same here. these can be had for under £200, where as 20XE's seem to command sometimes double that. Not to mention extra work required to shell..
Going from a 1.0 pushrod n all..
Can always add your ITB's at a later date.

e16se was stock fit, so insurance will be cheapernot at all true. when doing an engine conversion the converted car reverts to the donors insurance group. therefore if the donor 1.6 16v came from a meriva ;) then its insurance group 3-4 where as what insurance group is a gte/gsi nova!!.

i know for a fact this is true as baxters insurance went down when he went from a 1.4sr engine to a 1.6 16v

mmmm well surely that's voiding your insurance though as the engine number won't tally up with the V5 if in a crash.

Yes it would, you put your engines number on the logbook. Without seeing the doner car V5, you would not know what the engine is from.

ok even so, nearly all the 1.6 16v's are lower insurance group the nova gte/gsi's so meh

Nova GTE/GSI is group 11, Corsa B sport is 10, only 1.6 16v that is higher insurance is Tigra, as its group 13
