View Full Version : what is this bar in my boot? and some interior pics
Whist cleaning the boot, raised the carpet to find this? wny ideas what it is?http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af5/69marc/bar.jpg
Also I had these remover from the gearknob and the handbrake lever changer fro this to standard, I am too old for this sort of stuff, it is probably out of fashion nowadays anyway! I have also put in 2 interior photos just showing how standard and clean I have managed to get to.

could it have had a false floor at some point for subs/amps?
optics?
I like the idea of it being for reverse ram raiding!!!
could have been for false foor with amps I suppose as the car had been chavved up before. Will probably remove the bar at somepoint, it would make ecellent chasis legs as seems really solid?
Sense of humour misses the mark again lol
it is just that i am thick!
towbar, i've seen it before.
after seeing how my towbar fits that is deffinetly strengthening for one
Makes sence too, dont think the nova rear panel is that thick there?

You sure its not a bracket for a flux capacitor ????????
is the car a 1.2??? it could be for the parachute mount for speed records....
yeah, it is defo for the parachute! The 1.2i were always renowned for rapid acceleration. may leave it on as a safety precaution.
seriously though thanks guys for letting me know that it is for a towbar, I will probably remove it sometime as I doubt the car would towmuch anyway.

how rude!! never under estimate the power of a 1.2

luke, every new nova owner should be made to drive a 1.2 for the first couple of months. then see if they need to slap anything bigger in.....oh, they do already

Where did you get ??????? i can remember that rear quarter ! being off colour and the 3 spokes !
i went to birmingham from aberdeen and back last summer for the 5oth anniversarry in a 1960 848cc mini. There were 2 of us, all our camping gear booze etc. The journey was actually really nice and the car did over 1000 miles packed with no probs at all, although I am not sure it would tow the other cars which your estate (cool by the way) manages.

dont think its anything to do with the amp or sub got to be rear strut bar. only thing it could be looking at them pics wears it bolted to and ill could tell you but if its not actally doing anything usfull take the fcuker out...or it may be a bar to hold the boot carpet up at the back to level it mate
Ta , i do think it must have been for towbar in the past so will remove it when i can be arsed getting grommits to fit the holes it will leave. Sadly I doubt it will make the car any faster/ economical.......
