Front or rear?

[edit] Having said that ^ I assume you mean rear as I didn't think any saloons came with front ARB as standard...

rear arbs don't have bushes, they just bolt into a hole each side

Technically they do, in the centre.

Mine was standard and as you just about make out has a front arb, unlikely to have been fitted during it's 26,000 miles with elderly owner, but stranger things have happened.

a big rubber v that is usually missing.....

i personally don't think a polybush one would be much use there.

 lol never heard that one, every saloon i know and owned was owned previously by an old bag and they had ARB's mayb the grannies like tuning nova's to lol

Front ARB is standard on a loon 3 of mine have had them 2 of them bought of 1 elderly owner.

Also they do sell the v bush in poly mad i know but it comes in the kit its getting fitted haha.

I think best option is to measure this i just though someone might know.

I think the point some are trying to make is...you''ll only be 100% sure if you measure it as Vauxhall had fun by fitting various sizes and over the life of a Nova there is no telling whether it has been changed by another person.

I was under the impression 1.0's didn't have an ARB, the others did; but I thought that just applied to the rear. Obviously applies to the front too.

Seems daft that saloons have front ARBs across all engines whilst hatchbacks only had them on "sportier" jobbers lol

Mine was a G reg mk1 1ltr for the record and had nothing front or rear.

when i saw it at billing last year, there really was nothing at the rear, just a large hole ready for the gearbox

it appears that saloons in 1.2 & 1.3 & 1.3 hatches had arbs as standard.. 1.0s & 1.2 hatches did not get them factory fitted.

thats according to a 1985 nova brochure i just got off eBay for a quid

definitely a rear, and there is huge debate regarding fitting a front ARB. Most tend not to fit them but it all boils down to suspension setup/engine/driving style

Going from memory, all front arbs are the same size, it's the thickness of the tie bar that differs ;)

60mm drop on jamex shocks 1.2 spi engine and i chuck it straight in to corners. Dont think ill put one on front for now but ill get hold of a gsi/gte/sr rear one and get that on see what happens

that is correct as the clamps are "fixed" to the ARB and the bushes go around the tie bars. The GTEs and GSis were fitted with the thicker type (22mm or thereabouts) but the SRs weren't IIRC :thumb:

possibly, but i was only aware of two lol all i know is i have the thickest type tie bars from a GTE and don't care about what size bushes as i dont have a front ARB

Tiebars came in 16mm, 18mm and 22mm iirc.

I prefer cars without front arb.

some of us don't need a big engine........i can get plenty of understeer thankyou very much....

i'm working on a suspension upgrade that might just have been the bargain of the year.....
