The engine I have sat in the engine bay of my Sport is fully rebuilt and has never been run.

I need to change the cylinder head over for my other one that enlarged valves.

Can I reuse the gasket ?
Or is this pikey ? lol

Not a prob is I need to get a new gasket but no point buying one if there's no need.

If I need to get a new what make would people recomend ? It's a 1300.

Thanks in advance Edd.

I have used 8v gaskets again before mate, when I had loads of problems snapping rockers i used the same gasket twice, and its been ok :) I wouldnt use it more than twice though. But maybe because you are building to such a high standard a gasket will only be about a tenner up to you

just don't reuse. it has already been crushed to fit the old head & block. the new one will be different.

compton, it is quite easy to swap a rocker without removing the cam carrier. lump of metal & a couple of m6 bolts.

I would change it for the sake of a few quid, better than having to do it twice. Since your swapping to a different head, I think it would be even more important to do. I'd change the bolts too.

If you were refitting the same head you would probably get away with it, but its a definate no no if you are swapping heads.

Payen are available from Hamlyn's. That will mean something to Edd.

[edit] Even if a GM gasket was available, would you want something that might have been on a shelf for a few years? Not sure if they deteriorate at all.
