View Full Version : To all those who went to Billing....
What a fantastic weekend, you are all an absolutely top group of people! I was so proud to stand at the morning meetings listening to the incedents of doughnutting and loud music that other clubs had had to deal with knowing it was nothing to do with us, and I was also everso pleased that everyone kept the noise down at night which took the pressure off us to try to keep the peace without sounding like killjoys.
And also Id like to say a big thankyou for the state you all left the campsite in, I literally only had to mooch around on sunday evening picking up the odd bit here and there. The place was left spotless and after seeing the state some of the other stands were left in (one even had half an exhaust dumped in the middle of it) I wasnt surprised when one of the monday morning tidying crew commented to us how tidy our site was!
So thanks again guys, every sigle one of you is a credit to the club :thumb:

Was good to meet you Lee and glad you had a good weekend
mrs hobbit needs a special mention. i stepped outside sunday morning to find her starting the clean up, so joined in. it took 5 mins to get it straight.. oddly it was mostly chip wrappers & cider containers.....
Was good to meet you Lee and glad you had a good weekend
On the stand camping with a spaceframed beast next year? :p
was a cracking weekend and as said was a pleasure to meet you all :thumb:
Will defo be on the calender next year for the full weekend experance again :)
i made it back with no problems aswell :D well my exhaust fell off as i was pulling on to my drive :( think the sunday night piss drive loosened it lol
Loosened it, we thought by the loud clatter that youd ripped it clean off lol
Fantastic weekend and a really good time with all of you, and as Lee said, i think we mustve left one of the cleanest fields there, well done peeps:thumb:

was a very good weekend will defo be going again next year the atmosphere is so much more chilled out than pvs
the thing about billing is that there isn't really a main event. there are lots of little things. meeting up, chilling, the bit where you drive into the ring & get your car insulted, the chairmans cup, the jumble, etc.. so it really is a time for relaxation nothing is a mad rush..
it is the cadbury's caramel of car shows
i think they nicked the idea from the nats..

sounds like the image we are striving for is finally being recognised :d
all we need to do now is work out why the vectra c club had that huge plot near the main ring & 7 cars...... and one of them was a signum
I are a member on Vec C, shall I have a poke lol.

You're also close to the exit for a quick getaway...
I really like our plot. Its square for a start, so its easy to lay stuff out properly, and its secluded enough to get away from the fools around the chip shop / showers / toilets etc in the evening.
Some clubs probably laugh that were stuck over there, but I really like it :)
until we out grow it id like to stay there
Have to say, even though I are a non camper/billing n00bie, I think the png spot is ace. The trees make for a funky entrance, as Limpy said its a huge space thats a good shape for a stand etc.
And in reality its not that far to walk you lazy feckers lol.
i just think that billing might be improved if the clubs could all show their cars around a central point, then camp in designated plots further out.
we didn't get gigantic numbers of people wandering over, apart from the ones who were looking specifically for us.
the autojumble & trade stands were odd, maybe we should have a png jumble stand, so we could sell our bits & bobs. with no commisions for eGay etc. there really wasn't much nova stuff about.
the one thing that really impressed me was during the chairmans cup, a load of people gathered, so during the speaky bit, vicky pollards mum drove her icecream van straight into the middle of the ring, with the music blaring

The problem with that is, during the show the camp site would be easy pickings for the theiving pikey bastids who, for some reason, are still allowed to patrol the site looking for easy loot (we baltantly rumbled a group of them who parked down the bottom of our field at 1am with a flat bed). Also its nice to be able to chill out by your tent and not be miles away from the show stand.
If they did what you suggest it would completely change the dynamics of the show IMO

no i much prefere having the camping on the stand, its ones of my main hates for shows at santa pod
fair enough, but as much as i enjoy the png stand at vboa, and i do, it was more of a separate png meeting within the show than a combined vauxhall/opel event
but they should do something with the jumble.... why was a woman selling those crappy flowerpot men things? and nothing else.
and those viva sills have been to more car shows than i have.
mr illegal plates was doing a roaring trade too...

Thats what i was saying (yesterday i think) its so much better that youre camping basically on your stand as your cars are always in plain sight of yourself, you dont have to faff walking miles to go get your stuff from your tent and go back to sit on the stand as youre already there:thumb:

I have to admit some of the trade stands were a bit 'WTF?'. I believe ian had problems filling all the plots this year so i suppose filling in the gaps with tat was his only option.
We could have a stand in the autojumble section if we wanted it. We would need to take turns running it though, and keep track of whose parts are whose etc. its a possibility, but a discussion for another time :)

lol lol so true!
I have a major gripe with this weekend, the venue. Billing is a now a pikey infested dump IMO. Also the state of the toilets & showers is crap, considering the cost to get in now, I wasn't impressed tbh.
I hope the VBOA move it next year.

I'm making a list for the next meeting so feel free to PM me with any issues regarding anything to do with the show. Dont clutter up this thread with them though please :)
I'm very surprised Colin Smith doesn't do billing. I'm sure he could shift a good vanload of parts there, especially considering the general lack of Nova bits
imagine if his hillclimber was put in the parade...... they'd need an oxygen tent for the man

Yeah top weekend as always! Top company, Was it lee or mike that thought jimbo looked like plug lol I may tend to agree a little with craig, far too many pikeys, sat evening i caught some young pikey kids wandering through the tents having a good nose at everything. Also, whay did they feel the need the to trailer empty bins at top speed, every half hour throughout the night?? Also the toilets near us were disgusting, good job the missus and daughter didn't come with me, they'd never have gone all weekend.
All rather minor i suppose though cos everything else was spot on. Big thanks to ALL those who helped make this a top weekend! :)
