I know what you mean. It really is tempting but just don;t know what I'd get as my insurance company like to rape me with a rusty spoon

look at it this was rysee its a grand plus saves you £200 for the ne front valance and save painting so thats realy about £1300, you could get a nice sr or gte for that the blue gte on piston heads was only up for £1350 and it looked very clean

You're right, it's just that my insurance company wanted to double my monthly payments for a 1.3 or 1.4 SR so that's holding me back unless I banked the cash and waited for my 2 years NCB in oct. I have probs spent £1300 eassssy on it

why not ask him and see if you can get a little more off him? if he's offered you 1k straight, presuming that you didn't haggle him up in price.

imo thats alot of money for it

He offered £750 I said it'd never go for that. I could see the 1k in parts i reckon

I'd be amazed if that was worth £1k in parts.

Definitely looking at a couple hundred in parts max, take his grand, run and find another 1l/1.2 saloon for insurance, spend the other 700 on the new car, unless you really can do without your car til october, pretty sure insuring a car you no longer own is a bit dodgy though lol

Benn

After seeing said car, its very nice. Really like the look of it, so i'd say keep it and carry on.

I can't believe there was any debate!

Saying that though, some boyo tapped on the window asking me if the Jewcanoe was for sale last Sunday. He had been spectating at a JDMallstars drift event.

I said an outright no. :/ lol

Cheers Benn... None of the people that are telling me to sell have spent time modifying the car to their taste... I have

I'd love to find Spax rsx for £50 and those BBS with good tyres for £100 please point my in the direction and i'll take them as spares.

I mean theres 1k in putting it back to standard and selling the car and bits.

Daytona check interiors don't come cheap these days, nor do anything like blanking plates.

I shall be getting a bubble at the end of the month and taking this off the road for it's transplant even if it does take me a while

From the people I know that I have told that have told me to take it were the same people that told me not to buy it... And told me not to own Novas and rib me constantloy for owning Novas... So I havent made a habbit of listening to them and I'm not about to start now

MK999
12-07-10, 12:24 PM
My spax RSX cost me £80, and a mate found his for £50, BBS are standard golf wheels so must be loads kicking about that have been replaced with whatever scene wheel is in this year, maybe 200 in the wheels if they're really that desired , either way you're not looking at £1000 for it in parts, unless you're counting selling every last bit of trim for £5 a piece and the shell as well, which believe me doesnt happen in the real world.

Benn
12-07-10, 12:25 PM
Who cares what other people say or think.

Spend what you can and feel happy spending on the car as its your hobby and you enjoy it.

Taking your to get everything right is the best way. Means you don't have to do back and do things again.

I love the turbo's on yours and Spax? I wouldn't bother.

Exactly. The BBS look like standard mk2 Golf GTi one piece jobs to me?

Obviously you don't want to sell it OP. So stop dick swingin on here. lol

No offence intended btw. I know what Nova parts go for.

I have had two Mk2 golf owners ask me about the wheels. They can't be too common.

I'll closre the thread as I'm keeping

rysee, you actually asked us..... so you must have been thinking about it... keep it, fix it, get the bigger engine in it. its your car, you choose

Shock horror at VW owners asking about BBS wheels. lol

Man I hate water cooled Dubbers. All they see is wheels.

Of course I considered it. People outside the Nova world said it was a lot so I thought i'd ask you lot for a second opinion.

That's the plan Mowgli. I'd end up modifying whatever I get next so spending time when i could spend time on this one

Those wheels are rare now, esp with centre caps. I've got them on my MK1 Golf Cab

I know for a 'mint' set from a Corrado (look same) that went for £200 with newish tyres. I thought that was good money for them.

Personally I think £1000 is about right if you can bare to see it go. Otherwise keep it.

No I'm getting a Corsa Sri at the end of the month with 11 months Mot for £250 :gay: I know but should be cheap to run

I have...

32" tv and stand
Computer and desk/chair
Leather sofa
Fridge Freezer
Double bed
Coffee table
Drawers
Shelves
and a few other things I can't think of plus stuff my family will all dump on me and say they are doing me a favour

Jack
15-07-10, 09:55 AM
Ahh, so by "furniture" you mean "all I need is a washing machine"

£1k down here wouldn't even get you the deposit paid on an average rental place :(

Rysee
15-07-10, 10:16 AM
Yeah and bits and bobs to fill in the blanks. I need to find someone to share with though... but I want it to be my house, those "house shares" you might as well live at home with moaning parents

1 hour tomorrow will judge whether I can have a £2750 pay rise  so if I get that I can afford to move out possible on my own

£996 take home basic doesn't cut it to have your own place... even round here
