do all novas use the same altenator??
i think i need one for my 1300 but was wondering if 1200, 1400, 1600 items were the same?

1.2 prob 45amp
1.4 - 1.6 55amp

haynes not too helpfull says 45-55 depending on model :roll:

they are physically different as well. The earlier models use an alternator with a smaller pulley and fan. I found this when i tried fitting a Sport lowering bracket to a later-type 1300 and the fan fouled the bracket.

would a late 1300 alternator still work on an early car then? or would the fan foul the bracket?want to get this sorted asap really, I'm having to bump start the car to start it at the moment!

no it will only foul if you have the lowering bracket off the Sport, all standard brackets are the same. Only thing to consider will be the belt length
