Hmmmm a mate of Daves (White-Nova) told me that some 1.0L Novas (especially the early ones) had a fifth gear built into the box even though it was only meant to be a 4-speed one and that to get his to be 5-speed all he had to do was knock out some linkage in the box that was blocking the space or something... haven't really got a clue what he meant but anyone heard of this?

I'm driving a 4-speed Nova Life 1.0L - just fancy a fifth gear for when i do all my motorway miles, save some petrol! J

I think the divot just looked on top of the selector box, which shows the gears 1 - 5 + rev.

the 5 speed box has an extra section bolted onto the end casing. If you can see a really big bolt-on cap on the outer end of the box (36mm ish) then you have a 4 speed.

The actual gearstick linkage is different as well.
