I'm thinking of building a new exhaust for my nova I'm a fully skilled fabricator so making it's not a problem, the engine is a 2.0 Xe on carbs with alot of work done, last time it was on the rollers it made 235 bhp. The manifold is a SBD type c the question is how many boxes should i put in the system for the best performance.

So it dosen't make any difference to performance just noise? at the moment it's got 2 but the carbs over power the exhaust noise anyway.

In his infinate wisdom, adam (cooltiger) "Has/Tried" having a pipe, from the 4 branch to the back box.

OMFG it sets off alarms, shakes windows, I can hear him coming for a good few miles, as the cnut shakes the shed floorlol

Personally, speak to a propper exhaust builder, as obv not having one is probably the best option, as less backpressure, is gasses faster outlol

Why not get on the tinternet, or get down the local library, and borrow an exhaust making book. Our local library only has 2 stroke ones, and for that, there really only is one man, mr Stan Stephens;)

You 'could' get away with ONE box.... if you go for a nice long one in the middle of the car.

i used to run xe on 48s on the loon and had 2 systems started with 2in 2 box then went to 2.5in 1 box but its a loon so could fit a biger box than on a hatch pipe work is huge for a nova at 2.5 and i didnt want a box ratling in the middle have the same system on the let now, is loud but definatly helped

remember though with the exhaust bigger isnt always better too big and you wont have enough back preasure so will loose power
